  1. Well that turned around. Sensational batting from Root, who becomes the second Englishman to score 10,000 runs, and does so at exactly the same age (in years and days old) that Sir Alastair Cook did.
  2. It's hard to believe Italy won a tournament less than a year ago, we seem to have no creativity or attacking power whatsoever now and even the defence is falling apart. Plenty of time to work on that before Euro 2024 I guess...

I take it all back. That lemon task may have made this the worst series of anything in television history. But Fred being back may have saved it!
  4. It's possible England's test batting has not magically improved by changing everything other than the players.
  5. An electric rodent you say? Why GameFreak, your innovative ideas continues to astound me. I'm very happy to see the Mareep line back involved in things. And Lechonk is superb.
  6. Getting Perisic on a free is nothing short of phenomenal business, the likes of which I am very not used to. I'd be surprised if Bastoni left Serie A, but Conte being with us might be enough to convince him.
  7. Next up - the most baffling back-to-back race combination in F1 history - Azerbaijan and Canada.
  8. Imagine this sort of action taking place at a proper circuit. I'm pretty sure there have been no on-track overtakes since the race re-started.
  9. Looks like it's gone tits up for Leclerc at Monaco again...
  10. Latifi crashes, Stroll crashes, then they nearly crash into each other in the pits. Anyone on inters is very brave right now.
  11. Reason given is "there was no wet running all weekend so the teams and drivers were given more time to prepare". So I assume if it rains during a race in the future they just red flag it so the drivers can go and do some sim work in wet conditions? Speaking of red flags...
  12. This might be the biggest over-reaction decision at a Grand Prix since yesterday's red flag after Tsunoda scratched one of the barriers. When the race was supposed to start it wasn't even raining. The FIA seem scared to make any kind of decision that might put themselves at risk, which is understandable after Abu Dhabi, but is very frustrating for everyone else.
  13. I did say "all but written off" though . It really does need this though, these cars are bigger than ever so the chances of anyone having room to overtake are very low.
  14. The predicted rain in Monaco has been all but written off, so adjust your expectations for an entertaining race accordingly.
  15. Nice bit of chaos at the end, I hope Carlos doesn't get punished, I can't see how he could have reacted any faster. Obviously rain tomorrow would be the saviour of the usual procession, and it could potentially be the last Monaco GP for good measure (although as lovely as that would be, I'm sure they'll find a way to sort out the issues).

There's been a disturbing lacking of discussion about season 13, which in my mind has been fantastic every episode. Ardal's nit-picking and tearing down of everyone else despite his own usually awful effort, Bridget's absolute insanity whilst dressed as a cowboy undertaker, Chris's game-inventing skills, hyperactivity and utter competence, Judi's legendary bullshitting ability and being far funnier than I ever gave her credit for, and Sophie's bizarre mixture of intelligence and craziness, perfectly exemplified in a Shakespeare performance mixed with an escapology act in a bathtub.
  17. He's right, but at the same time I can completely understand a player not wanting to play a tournament that doesn't give them any of the points they need to qualify for other tournaments. The schedule is tough enough as it is without playing unnecessarily.
  18. I've been playing the Stanley Parable Ultra Deluxe version all weekend, having not played the game originally. It is hilariously funny, and occasionally quite creepy, and overall a really good game. That said, the additional content really justifies the price tag, so I'm quite glad I didn't play it before it had more to do. Extra content spoiler:
  19. It feels like something's changed since COVID for me too, like people forgot how the rules of public decency work because of lockdowns. It's not just football either, it seems like any sport with a crowd is suffering the same effect. What gets me the most, other than the increase in fan-on-player violence, is the number of pitch invasions by fans of teams that didn't even win anything. Forest, Port Vale and Huddersfield only won a play-off semi-final, and Everton were celebrating the absolute bare minimum a team should be achieving in a season. One thing I noticed at the City game was some twat recording himself standing in the centre circle holding a corner flag, so yeah, the need for attention on social media is almost certainly part of it for the younger fans.
  20. Today feels like the unspoken understanding that Max is #1 and Checo is #2 in the team became a loudly shouted fact. Not being allowed to overtake Max twice and being told to move over for him twice in the sixth race of a 22 race season is more than enough proof that Checo will never be allowed to contend for the title.
  21. City are looking for the fan who assaulted Robin Olsen when they ran on the pitch. The only thing that could possibly stop this is punishing the clubs, because evidently fines and jail sentences don't mean anything to these clowns.
  22. Crap, I was actually thinking of United and forgot Norwich
  23. A BBC reporter just called a save "like a shark out of water", which is both new to me and a very confusing metaphor. 39 goals today, which is pretty astonishing. Only one team didn't score... Oh good, another pitch invasion.
  24. Now Ross Barkley, who I forgot still played football let alone played for Chelsea, gives them the lead. Full time at Carrow Road, which gives me 99% certainty we're safe in fourth.
