The next UFC Fight Night from London (8th March) will be airing on Channel 5 as well as BT. It starts at 9:00pm (the BT show starts at 7:30) so it seems they're only going to broadcast the top two fights and show highlights of anything else that's noteworthy.

This knockout stage is really not providing the best advertisement for the Premier League. Three losses out of three, two of them at home and the other to Olympiakos, and not one of them has scored a goal. I agree with both stoppages were either late or early, but what do you expect when you have a commentator publicly trashing a referee's decision to their viewing audience? In no other sport would a commentator be allowed to openly question a referee's judgement to the extent of what Rogan has said about Herb Dean at both UFC 169 and 170 without suffering some sort of repercussion, but because it's Rogan he seems to just be allowed to say anything he wants. Thankfully he didn't drag Dean in for an interview to explain his decision like he did with Mario Yamasaki in the most embarrassing moment of MMA history. I don't think Bjorn is much better than Dana as a person, and he is still ridiculously entrenched in his belief in the tournament system despite how many problems it causes in making fights fans want to see. Which is another point, Michael Chandler wants to fight Gilbert Melendez for the Bellator Lightweight title as either the champion, or as a challenger if Alvarez wins their third fight and the title gets vacated when Alvarez moves to the UFC. Sounds like the best idea for Bellator, the fans, and the fighters, right? Of course theoretically that can't happen unless Melendez enters and wins a tournament first. In fact maybe Chandler would have to as well. Right now the reigning Lightweight tournament champion is Will Brooks, who really should be fighting Alvarez next and not Chandler if Bellator booked by the rules that they swear by. But then Alvarez shouldn't have got a shot against Chandler in the first place because he didn't win a tournament. Meanwhile Quinton Jackson, by FAR the biggest star Bellator have, has to win a tournament before he gets a Light Heavyweight title shot because Attila Vegh is fighting Emmanuel Newton to unify an interim title which Newton holds because he won a tournament and beat Mo Lawal who won a different tournament. This whole tournament crap just leaves me completely confused.

If Melendez signs for either Bellator or WSOF then he can kiss his credibility goodbye. I'm sorry but both of those companies are so far behind the UFC when it comes to both exposure and the standard of opposition in the Lightweight division. He spent so long being called the best Lightweight fighter in the world whilst stuck in the secondary promotions, now he's in the top promotion and doing pretty well, but is still willing to go back to being the big fish in the small pond.
