I have no problem with GSP getting an immediate title shot, we've had loads of examples of former champions getting immediate re-matches when they've lost the title. In this instance GSP didn't even lose the belt (well, according to the judges), he just vacated it. Jones is a different example in the sense that he was stripped of the title but there's also the issue in LHW division that there's Jones and Cormier and everyone else has lost to either one or both of them.

I'm very disappointed at the result because no Diaz deserves any kind of success in my opinion, but I'm still completely confused by what the UFC were hoping to achieve with giving their 145 champion a fight at 170. Realistically you can't give McGregor a 155 title shot now because why should McGregor fight the champion that absolutely dismantled the guy that just choked McGregor out? As for Tate that was fantastic, I'm really pleased for her. She's always come across as really sweet even in the mire of her feud with Ronda and her idiot boyfriend.

If nothing else it's a great advertisement for the concept of human beings retaining their natural water weight.

True, but the deal before was that European shows would still be shown on BT Sport either live (for UK shows) or the night after for everything else. This just isn't being shown at all so obviously that has changed. I can see what you're saying but to have the UK's biggest star fighting an all time MMA legend in London not on any form of UK television is just madness to me, maybe even another sign that they're not that interested in the UK market compared to other places. Put it this way, if Anderson Silva was fighting Bisping in Brazil I bet it would be on Brazilian TV in some form.

The Bisping/Silva show from London is/was tonight, but if you're thinking you'll get to watch the UK show on UK TV then THINK AGAIN! It wasn't on live, and I can't see an airing of it anywhere. Guess they're being even more stingy with Fight Pass shows.

Any rumours on who the C4 presenting/commentary team is? I know Coulthard's almost a certainty and Jake Humphrey owns the production company that has the F1 contract so he'd be a strong favourite for the main presenter, but I've heard nothing else about it.

I'm pretty new to watching so can anyone explain to me why goal tending is illegal? Or anything offensively where an attackers hands are above the rim for that matter. Is it purely to stop people hiring 7 foot plus guys to just block all game?

I'm not sold on Haryanto (only two spins over four days and they were both him) but I think Wehrlein could be surprising some people this season, the Manors really seem to have got things together and it'll be nice not to have a definitive "last placed team". Except maybe Renault. I had no idea that Hulkenberg set his time on the Super Soft, I just assumed it was the Ultra Soft. It could just be a very low fuel level of course but it does make me wonder if Force India could be around the Williams/Red Bulls this year. And as for wacky stats I had no idea that Hulkenberg has never finished on the podium in his 94 races. The guy really deserves a car to match his talent this year.

Ted Kravitz on his Notebook was giving Eric Bouillier a hard time last night, essentially because they've been fiddling around with qualifying and not the aerodynamics that are preventing the cars from racing each other properly at a close distance. I agree with him to a point, but his main argument was "what do the racing purists want?" which is completely meaningless in this situation. The racing purists are going to watch regardless of what the qualifying regulations are, what the FIA and Team Bosses are trying to do is get the people who are on the fence or even those that don't like the sport to start watching. any changes that need to be made (particularly ones that don't involve the cars themselves) have to be aimed at growing a new audience, not satisfying the people already watching.

But RDA beating Conor would have given the Lightweight champion instant credibility and turned him into a much bigger name than he currently is. If Diaz beats Conor then its ended Conor's momentum to a guy that has tried to be a champion and failed every time. Then moaned about it. And whilst we hardcore fans realise that Conor is moving up two weight classes that's not something that the casual fan, aka the significant majority, are going to understand or care about. A win is a win, a loss is a loss. Apparently Dana called both Aldo and Edgar to see if they wanted a Featherweight Title shot at short notice, they both declined.
