  1. Oh fuck this shit. I'm in first after the halfway mark, having only lost once and drawn twice and only conceded 9 in 20 games. Saivet is in the form of his life, having scored 24 in 25 appearances for the year with 21 in the league. And then those bloody Chelsea bastards go and break his leg in injury time and he's out for the rest of the season :crying:

  2. So why exactly was our future England captain picked for being a role model on and off the pitch crying at the referee like a little girl?

I was switching over from Sky Sports news and the match - more frequently late on so I may have missed so key moments. But, yeah, why was Ferdinand so upset?

Makelele (or however the hell you spell it) dived in his own box to get a free kick, RIGHT in front of the ref, who fell for it.

  3. How early are most of you guys getting to your respective stores for the midnight launch. I should have Monday night off so I can get there pretty early, but this is my first midnight launch so I'm not exactly what to really expect.

I'm guessing most people will get there about midnight, but I dunno >_>

  4. Okay, the contest is on!

I'm essentially just gonna play Saivet and Huntelaar as my strikers all season as my back-ups are all 3 stars (aged Berbatov and Keane, plus a couple of regens, Terry Dixon and Tomas Pekhart). After the first two league matches Huntelaar is ahead of Saivet by 4 goals to 3 (won 4-0 and then 4-1).

He's a real player AFAIK. But I signed both Dixon and Pekhart from Spurs in my old Hearts FM07 game and whilst Dixon turned into a reasonable rotation player, Pekhart was unbelievable. Bought him for £7m (I think) and he was amazing for 2 seasons (or was it 1?) and I sold him on for £15m (even although I didn't want to, but he was pissing and moaning and I wasn't gonna turn down over twice what I paid for him). He was almost a one man team for me.

Ah, worded it poorly. I meant a couple of regens PLUS Terry Dixon and Tomas Pekhart. One of my regens, Jamie McDonald (at least I think he's a regen, I'll have to double-check), is like 21 and has 20 finishing, 18 dribbling, 19 first touch, 16 heading and 16 composure, and he has pretty good physical stats too, so he'll probably get the nod as the super sub.

Edit: It's now Huntelaar 7, Saivet 6 after 4 games, thanks mainly to a 5-0 drubbing of Chelsea (all of which came in the first half and included 2 disallowed goals from Fleck :@). Fleck also had 6 assists after the first 3 games, so my team is (finally) firing at the moment :)

Edit2: Well, in the very next match, Huntelaar breaks his arm and is now out for a month :( Up for Jaime McDonald to fill in, who came on to score his first ever league goal (and the winner) with an overhead kick!

  6. Man, van der Vaart has been a pretty big flop for me. Has a good game every now and then but mainly just likes to boot it from 25 out in the odd hope he might find the net. He's also the only person that refuses to tutor younger players. Greedy, selfish twat <_<

In other news, Felix Magath (it's 2013) is unlikely to be rehired by Man Utd and I seem to be the favourite for the job, but I kinda want to stay at Tottenham just to win that first title, and bcause I've brought in some real good young players who are just starting to step up (Saivet and Fleck, for example). Decisions, decisions!

edit: So now it seems that the Tottenham board may not offer me a new contract, so I could be forced out to Man Utd :(

you could leave spurs for man utd, god forbid :shifty:

I just signed a new contract with Spurs, yay :)

Wouldn't have wanted to go to Man Utd unless Spurs didn't offer me a new contract, especially after spending 6 years building up the squad. And I just signed Nedum Onuoha (I want to go on a English player signing spree due to the fact I don't have too many English players in the first team (if I had to pick my best team, there'd only be Lennon, due to the fact King's on the decline and Robinson is my #2)) and hope to sign Micah Richards and a third striker behind Saivet and Huntelaar, such as Vaughan or Brandy.

  8. Aight, this'll contain spoilers for the mini-series and seasons 1 and 2, so if you don't wanna be spoiled, go away. In saying this, please don't post spoilers from season 3 onwards either.

So I finally got around to watching BSG (up to season 2) after getting the DVDs off a mate. Was anyone else really disappointed with the second half of season 2? After the Pegasus stuff, which was awesome, instead of building to the finale, they essentially had five stand-alone episodes (Black Market, Scar, Sacrifice, The Captain's Hand, Downloaded) and then had a finale which seemed very rushed and with no real purpose. It seemed as if they wanted to get to that point of the surrender as the big finale, but instead of building up to it, they put some mediocre episodes that only did one or two things for the entire scope of the show, which made the finale seem like a big cop out. Hell, both season 1 and 2 finales started with them flukily finding a planet which they became the focus of the episode.

Shows like Lost, Prison Break and Heroes spend the majority of the season building up to events in the finale, whereas BSG seemed to have a couple of story arcs they wanted to use that had no real enduring effect on the major storyline. It's still a good show, I'm just a bit disappointed with some of the writing and direction of it.

  9. I listen to a bunch of J-Pop, and I don't understand a word of most of it.

    Does Rammstein count?

I came in here to mention them too. I understand some (from looking up lyrics and stuff) but nowhere near all and they're still one of the most kickass bands ever.

I like some Rammstein, even though I don't understand it. Funnily enough, I think the English language version of "Du Hast" sucks, and I've purposely avoided looking for anything else they've done in English - if they've even done anything else in English, that is.

My favorite song by them is probably either "Sonne" or "Engel".

It's the Shawshank factor, not understanding the words only makes them and the music more powerful.

No, its the fact it just sounds more badass in German, not the fact its not understandable.

I recently listened to the English version of Engel, and its okay.

By the way, does anyone who is big on Rammstein know if there are two different videos for Engel? Because I could have sworn I saw a video for it with a blond or white haired woman singing instead of the caged kid back when the song first came out.

I believe when MTV aired a full Rammstein concert, they had a blond woman singing the part live. Is that maybe what you're thinking of?

Man, I only realised how awesome Mein Teil was when I saw the show they did in France on DVD.

My favourite is probably Adios though.

  10. So there is the slight possibility I could be going to the Italian Grand Prix (in September-ish?) :o

Went to the one in Melbourne last year which was pretty awesome. This one's a bit further from home though and will be the first time I've gone overseas even >_<

  11. I've bought three fifteen/fourteen year olds in superstar John Fleck, some Dutch kid and some kid that Spurs bought for 2m in 2006 that I stole off them for 200k :shifty:... I also want Breno because he's only 17 and will still be young by the time Carragher retires, but Sao Paolo are playing hardball over him, the bastards.

Danny Rose? If so, he (at least in mine) turns out good in stats like tackling, passing, crossing, dribbling and finishing (all 16+), but apart from a couple of mental attributes has otherwise averages stats across the board.

  12. Why is it that strikers do well for every team but yours? <_<

I sold Bent and Defoe off cause they were doing ordinary, Defoe is doing super at Portsmouth (coincidence that, really) and Bent got the second best Euro player of the year at Athletico Madrid.

  13. Man, heartbreaking defeats are shit :(

Firstly, as Tottenham in my first Cup final in the five years I've been there, verse Portsmouth. They've got 3 of my ex-players (Defoe, Dawson and Kusczcak) and generally have a good team. Goes to extra time at 3-3 and then it's 4-4 before they score a later winner through Defoe getting his hattrick :(

Then as Ireland, who I've been managing since just prior to the Euro 2012 qualifiers. Got second with them in a group that included England, Greece and Albania. I was in first and undefeated, including a 2-1 win over England at Wembley, before losing my last 3 matches to finish 2nd. In the championships I get Italy, Ukraine and Wales in my group. Lose to Italy 1-0 after Stephen Hunt got sent off, beat Wales 3-2 and then drew with Ukraine 2-2, after leading 2-0 with 3 minutes to go, to get through on 'goals scored'. Then I take on Turkey in the Quarters, it's 1-1 at halftime before McGeady (probably my best all tournament) gets injured. Then Sabri does a super-fucking jinking run down the right flank and blasts the ball from the outside edge of the box to make it 2-1 :@

The supporters were still happy at least that I got that far, but I was so close to a semi's spot :(
