I'd definitely played Eric Staal with Skinner and Jordan Staal with Semin. That is a nightmare - who do you send your top checkers out against? They have Cam Ward, a decent defence...Carolina has improved a ton.

You know, if Nashville had the money to sign someone like Semin or trade for someone who could add offence, I'd actually like their chances to make the playoffs, and maybe even contend for the division. Trotz always gets the most out of that line-up.

I really don't feel any comeback AI. What does happen is, if I get an early lead, I'll start throwing far too many fastballs, and I will too agressive looking for strikeouts. The key is to get ahead of the count, then throw a few pitches off the plate. If they need to catch up, they are usually swinging away. Slider away is good because if they can hit it, it will usually stay in the dirt.

I like the idea or replay being brought in for ball in play and out calls at the bases, with each manager getting challenges like in NFL. Maybe to prevent the game from slowing down any more, limit it to one per team, with a manager getting a second challenge if their first challenge is correct.

In the last year of that contract, wouldn't Lin - good or bad - be an attractive trade piece due to the big expiring contract?

Doan would be ok, but that addresses none of their needs. Reimer / Scrivens is a question mark in net, there is no true #1 center, and a 2nd / 3rd defenceman would help. I'd actually roll the forwards we have. Other then the gaping hole at 1C, the top six is pretty good.

If over the cap, you can only sign free agents using an exception (like the mid level) or sign players to league minimum contracts. They still go against you cap number, but you can exceed the cap and still sign players that way.
