  1. Damn, I don't want to lose Reimer. If this leads to the Leafs getting Brodeur, I might just give up on this season before it even begins.
  2. Go into the sliders and turn down the pitch speed. That might help you out a bit. Another tip is only swing at one type of pitch and one location early in the count. You might let some good pitches go by, but you will see more pitches and that will help you become more selective.
  3. I like the Nylander pick. Get a guy who could develop into a real points producer. Better then drafting Tyler Biggs in the first round, at least.
  4. It would probably cost them Schenn and multiple first rounders to move up. I'm perfectly fine with the Leafs picking where they are. To move up a few spots would probably cost Gardiner plus picks, and I think the Leafs need to keep both. I don't think the Leafs have the assets to get the top pick.
  5. The Leafs are going to sign Bolland, and they are going to "compromise" by only giving him a 6 year deal for 5 per year. It's the same this as the Bozak deal, where a huge, outrageous deal gets leaked first so when the actual deal gets made, it looks like Nonis got a deal (even though it's still a really shitty deal). We need a new front office willing to embrace new ideas. I thought Shanahan was going to do that, but I guess not. Now we probably get to see Jake Gardiner traded for some 4th line plugger and a draft pick that also turns out to be a 4th line plugger.
  6. I think it was a relief pitcher but I can't remember who.
  7. I just started as the Jays, and traded away Brandon Morrow for Howie Kendrick and JB Shuck. Then I sent Marcus Stromann and RA Dickey to Philly for Cole Hamels. My final preseason move was to get Andrew Cashner from the Padres. So, now I am strictly playing a platoon in centre of Rasmus and Shuck, and at DH with Lind and Kratz (but am looking for a better contact hitter against LHP). Biggest disappointment so far - hitting a home run with Encarnacion and he doesn't do the Ed-wing.
  8. I don't think those protective hats will catch on, but I do think in a few years something will be done to help prevent so many serious injuries to pitchers.
  9. I'm actually surprised to hear Jonathan Toews didn't get a lot of votes. The amount of people giving him head on the radio the last six months has been insane.
  10. That Markov contract is bad. They just give him what he wanted, when a two year deal would have been better. They need him to not get hurt again, and not decline.
  11. I don't feel bad for Richards. He just got a gigantic lump sum of cash and is still good enough to cash in on another contract.
  12. If Spezza does go, what does Bobby Ryan do? The Sens spent a ton to get him, but his deal is up after this next season. Do they need to be competitive for him to stay?
  13. Awesome. I have a shit copy of ASM #1 (1.8) but I got it at about half of it's value and I got ASM #1!!!!!!!!!! Cover is in good shape for the grade so I jumped on it. There's a few more books like this that I've got stashed at my local shop that he allows me to layaway on our own agreement (being a regular has perks). Yeah, I'm not too concerned about condition. Just having a copy is enough for me! Also, I'm getting a bit of a discount because I work at the comic store.
  14. So, very soon, I will have a copy of X-Men #1 from 1963 to go along side my Giant Size X-Men #1! Fuck yeah! From not collecting at all a year and a half ago to having the two most important books in X-Men history. I'm pretty stoked. My copy of X-Men #1 probably grades at a 2.0, but I'm getting it at a fantastic price. I'm pumped!
  15. I think the Ducks kicked the tires on Spezza around the trade deadline this season, so that makes sense.
  16. I've never had that happen. I have had a ball hit straight to the pitcher, and my pitcher went into a ridiculously slow animation that resulted in a hit, but that's only happened to me once. I use the meter for my fielders throwing. What do you use?
  17. Donald Sterling has changed his mind, and is no longer willing to sell the Clippers. He is also suing the NBA.
  18. I've probably started three or four franchises. Every time the Rays put Chris Archer on the trade block. I just got him for a starting pitcher rated 67 overall with D potential.
  19. 1994. The only thing I remember is the final penalty kicks, and the SNES game.
  20. In the majority of cases, he didn't sell the rights, because he barely owned them; it's more to do with the vast majority of mainstream comic book publisher contracts being geared towards the publisher retaining copyright, not the creator. He did sell the rights to League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen, though. And look how that turned out. I know this is from over a year ago but.... Alan Moore, when he did Watchmen, signed a deal where he would get all the rights to it once it went out of print. At the time, pretty much every graphic novel went out of print after a year or two. This was considered a sweet deal for Moore. However, Watchmen has been in print since it was released, meaning DC maintains the rights. That's why they did the movie and they were able to do the Before Watchmen comics.
  21. Damnit. I was hoping Bylsma would be fired, then the Leafs would pick him up to replace the recently fired Randy Carlyle. But nooooooo, we have to keep Carlyle.
  22. I played a game last night after a few beers, which is normally a bad idea in a game all about timing and split second decision making. I pulled off an amazing defensive play. One of the White Sox players hit a deep fly ball, and for once I actually timed my jump perfectly with Michael Brantley and I pulled back a home run! It was so satisfying.
  23. I'm pretty happy to see Montreal lose. I don't really care who wins the Cup now.
  24. Stealing is always hard in The Show. It's always about reading the motion of the pitcher. Some pitchers are too quick to the plate to steal on, while some have high leg kicks that make it automatic. I don't remember who it was, but there is one pitcher who I can steal 6-8 bases from a game if I get on base. He just has an awful motion. You don't even need to take a lead. He was one of the Asian pitchers that holds the ball over his head.
