  1. Cespedes is one guy I would just never hit well with. I'd get some home runs, but hit around .200 and hit into a lot if double plays.
  2. Same with me. I struggle with some of the sinker ball pitchers, and R.A. Dickey.
  3. I remember last season when I played as the Mets, I always played better with Gee and Niese than Harvey. Just played against the Yankees with my Cubs, and got 12 strikeouts with Shelby Miller. His cutter and circle change were unhittable.
  4. Silver Surfer is definitely worth a look. Mike Allred is probably my favourite artist and the book is just a bunch of fun.
  5. I ended my first season with the Cubs. Went 78-84, which is better then I expected at the start of the year. Kept nearly everyone, with Oswaldo Arcia and Josh Willingham platooning in left, Adam Eaton in centre, and Will Myers (who is now 87 overall) in right. I have a lot of good depth here too, with Matt Sczur, Nate Schierholtz, Avisail Garcia, and Jorge Soler on the bench or in Triple A. I lost Darwin Barney because I forgot to offer him arbitration, but Javier Baez was ready to take over at second anyways. He is not nearly as good with the glove, but should be one of the best offensive players at second in the NL. Starlin Castro, Anthony Rizzo, and Matt Dominguez all return after strong seasons. I'm a bit thin on the bench for the infield though, and most of the players I targeted to help out chose less money to go to other teams. I do have Luis Valbuena who is ok, but that's it. Everyone else in the organization are prospects who I want playing every day in the minors still. I debated bringing back Wellington Castillo. He's great defensively, but his bat is mediocre and he hit .238 in 2014 for me. However, the free agent group behind the plate was terrible, with most available players being over 35, so Castillo returns. I did pick up Gerald Laird to back up, which is better then what I had in Jon Baker last season. Shelby Miller and Marco Gonzales (who I also got in the trade with St Louis) lead my rotation. Jose Quintana is solid as a 3-4 starter, but the back of my rotation is a bit weak. Jake Arrieta returns as my 4th starter and 23 year old rookie Mike Foltynewicz is my 5th starter. He can throw 99 but doesn't have great stamina. I did bring in Jeff Francis to be a long reliever and he can replace Foltynewicz if he struggles. My bullpen sucks. I was hoping to add some help in the off season but the best player available for the pen was Pedro Strop, and I was letting him walk. I have Christian Martinez, Wesley Wright, Neil Ramirez and Jose Veras returning. I added Joakim Soria on a one year deal to be my set up man, but his numbers last year were brutal. I did bring in Ryan Madson last season to close, and he was awesome, posting 42 saves and a 2.08 ERA. I had an option on him and since his skills didn't drop at all, I decided to bring him back. If he does start to struggle, I have Soria who I can try out there. Overall, since the free agent market sucked, I was able to save a ton of money. Really though, not bringing in free agents might be a blessing in disguise and now I've got some good prospects stepping in to the major league line up. I don't think my rotation or bullpen are good enough to compete, but I'm confident in my line up. Maybe a few trades will put me into a position to push the Cardinals and Pirates (who now have Pujols...) for the division. If not, I've got the cash to spend on pitching in the offseason. Just need some good pitchers to get to free agency.
  6. I play a stretch of 5-10, then sim 10-20 until I hit a match up I want to play.
  7. Got off to a hot start with my Cubs. At one point was 7 games ahead in the NL Central. However, by the trade deadline we were 54-54 and 6 games back. I decided we were not going to contend and made some moves for next season. I dislike Bonifacio, so I traded Samardzija to the White Sox for Adam Eaton, Jose Quintana and Avisail Garcia. Quintana is a decent 4-5 in the rotation, but I really wanted Eaton. Then I moved Jason Hammel to Minnesota for Oswaldo Arcia and took Josh Willingham just to balance salaries and give me a power bat against lefties. We could still contend this season, but I think my team will be pretty good next season. Shelby Miller and Will Myers have both already jumped to 85 overall, and should continue to grow before next season.
  8. I've got a new hitter before in previous versions of The Show, but never a perfect game. So strange to come so close in twice so close together. Also, my Cubs now feature Will Myers is right and Shelby Miller in the starting rotation. Cost me prospects, but I see these two as better prospects then the guys I sent away.
  9. It happened again. This time it was Travis Wood going for the perfect game, and it was broken up by the very last hitter with a weak pop up that barely landed in fair ground. Fuck!
  10. Wierd to see the A's add salary like that, but I think it's a solid move for them. The prospects going to Chicago must be top rated guys too.
  11. With Carlyle still here, you know he is going to put Orr and McLaren on the fourth line even though they can't play hockey.
  12. I don't think we would want him back at this point for the money he can get. I don't know if he can be a #1 option for a team anymore.
  13. Yeah, I hate that sometimes. But then it comes back around when they call a strike out on a pitch way out of the zone.
  14. Playing as a Cubs, and I came two outs away from a perfect game with Edwin Jackson. It was broken up by a broken bat single that dropped just in front of my second baseman. Barney was out hurt, so I had a back up in and he couldn't make the easy play.
  15. Canucks made a smart move with Vrbata. He's been good for a few years now, and it's only a two year deal so the risk is fairly low.
  16. I believe in Masai! I just hope the great play from last year continues next year. Adding Lou Williams to score off the bench could be a big help, and improvement from Valenciunas should happen.
  17. Grabbing a police officers butt is only a misdemeanour here in Canada. He likely committed impoliteness in the 3rd degree to be thrown in jail.
  18. Stephane Robidas? 3 years? Meh. Hopefully the money isn't high. We did just waive Tim Gleason, and I am not sure Robidas is much better then him. Maybe a better skater.
  19. It confuses me to hear that Colorado wants Iggy, because they need to bring back Stastny. He's much more important to what they do then adding Iginla.
  20. If the Leafs don't make a run at Stastny, then fuck this team. I don't mean they have to get him, but this team better understand that he is that point producing centre they have been looking for through a few seasons. They have to at least make a strong offer.
  21. The news I've heard from local sports reporters here is that Lowry resigning with the Raptors is essentially a done deal.
  22. I'm glad the Gorges deal fell through anyway. I don't trust this teams management to make any deal that will actually be beneficial for the team. Heck, they are about the offer Dave Bolland 5 million per year for 5 years. We are fucked.
  23. I still think Ehrhoff is very good. His contract was ridiculous in Buffalo, they had to get out from it. Rumour is that the Leafs are trying to land Josh Gorges from Montreal.
