  1. I think the NFL is solely focused on making money above all else. They know that 6 months ago, if Ray Rice is having a good season, commentators will probably be saying "what a brave guy, look at how he focuses despite these off the field distractions" and shit like that.
  2. Anyone tried the Dragon Age RPG? I picked it up because it sounds like it's easy to learn for new players, and the people I will be playing with have never really played RPGs.
  3. I just finished year two with the Cubs. A horrible August saw us only win 5 games and we finished 89-73, 3 games back the Cardinals and a whopping 11 back of the Wild Card. Something weird happened though...the Rockies put Car-Go on waivers. I'm assuming it had something to do with his contract, but holy shit. I claimed him and got a 97 rated fielder for nothing.
  4. How does the online franchise work anyways? Do you both go ahead a week at a time like in NHL?
  5. Zimmerman allows 2 in his debut (because I was up by 12 and pitching to the score...), then I sim forward 2 weeks and my Cubs crush it. We regained the lead in the NL East and are 3 games up on the Cardinals with a week to go to the deadline. My only remaining piece that I'm willing to deal is Jorge Soler, who is blocked by Myers and Arcia. However, he doesn't seem to have much value despite being an A level potential player. I'll probably keep him and then in the offseason, if Adam Eaton doesn't re-sign with me, I'll move Soler for a centre fielder.
  6. Well, that came together quick. Decided to play a game since I have had some trouble sleeping tonight. Traded my first round pick, a B potential 22 year old left fielder, to Washington for Jordan Zimmerman and Ross Detwiler.
  7. I thought the latest issue was boring and predictable. How many times do we have to read "oh you have a long lost sibling/parents/clone" story? I know Silk isn't related to Parker, but to me it reads like one of those stories. Superior Spider-Man was much more interesting.
  8. I'm glad we get PTI in Canada and not that show. Smith and Bayless are just awful, and the comments made by Smith about domestic abuse (and this isn't the first time he has made them) are reprehensible. He should have been fired. Actually, the way ESPN covered the whole situation was pretty disappointing.
  9. I'm a fan of Prado, and was kinda hoping the Jays would make a run at him. The Yankees make some decent moves but don't really address any of their most pressing needs. I think the AL East is Toronto and Baltimore in no particular order, and I think the Jays will pick up a starter in August. Maybe Bartolo Colon? Probably an arm for the bullpen too.
  10. Just played at Fenway. Even if I'm simming to the end of the season, I'll always stop to play a game there. On the PS4, it looks awesome and I love any ballpark that plays different and looks different. One big reason l usually don't play as the Jays is because Rogers Centre is so bland. One game after the All-Star break and I am 56-40, and tied for tops of the NL Central with the Cardinals. I went through a month and a half of .500 baseball as a bunch of guys went down with short term injuries. Cool to see Javier Baez as the NL starter at second in his first season as a starter. I doubt I'll make any changes to the team this season. I like my lineup and bench, although I have a lack of speed. I already added to the bullpen, adding a few guys from the Marlins (I can't recall the names at the moment) for a guy I drafted that was 70 overall but had C potential. As far as my starting pitching goes, I'm set. Shelby Miller is 90 overall now, and I just pitched a Maddux (complete game shutout under 100 pitches) with him at Fenway. Marco Gonzales is 88 overall and has been fantastic. Only Jose Quintana has been blah, and I don't really enjoy pitching with him for some reason.
  11. I think this is an "all-in" move from the A's. Last year, Bartolo Colon was their game one starter in the playoffs. Now they will roll out Lester, Samardzjia, Hammel and Kazmir. They paid a huge price, though.
  12. John Lester and Johnny Gomes have been traded by Boston to Oakland for Yoenis Cespedes.
  13. The Boys is fucking great. I recommend it to a lot of customers at the store.
  14. I've only seen pitchers leave the game after getting hit twice, and both times it was after taking a line drive to the head. Actually, in the game I just played, I had Ryan Madson come into the game in the 10th inning. Threw two strikes, then had to leave with a concussion despite not getting hit!
  15. I've had my opening day starter leave the game after one pitch. TWICE.
  16. In my first season, I had Javier Baez called up and platooning with Darwin Barney. Then, with 90 games to go, he went down for the rest of the season. I've always seen tons of injuries in franchise, so I usually turn the slider down a notch or two.
  17. Encarnacion being out is huge, but he might be ready to go this time next week. Same with Lind. Not sure how much longer Lawrie is expected to be out for. At this point, I'm guessing the Jays don't add any big name guys, but maybe a veteran or two they can get for cash or a prospect to be named later.
  18. It's always pissed me off in other sports games too. If I get frustrated and want to quit and start again, let me. Give me the option to leave the game or save and quit or sim. It bothers me the most in Madden.
  19. Yikes. Between Milwaukee and my Cubs, there were 9 home runs in my last game. I know a lot of my hitting is because of how terrible the Brewers pitchers are in my game.
  20. Just had another big game against the Brewers, this time scoring 10 runs. Although Quintana was shit and I pulled him after his 3rd home run surrendered in 4 innings. Won 10-4, but he just couldn't keep it in the yard.
  21. Lombardi was horrible with the Leafs a few seasons ago, but I'm fairly certain he was struggling through some injuries.
  22. Just played a game where I crushed the Brewers 12-0. They are one of the worst teams in baseball in season two, with only Ryan Braun and Victor Martinez providing any real challenge to my pitching staff. I hit a home run with Oswaldo Arcia that barely stayed within the friendly confines of Wrigley Field.
  23. With Adam Dunn, I can actually hit close to .300. No idea why, just can. I never have much of a problem with most power hitters.
