  1. Ottawa will turn it around, I am sure of it. They have too much talent on that team not to. Maybe a change would do the team good. Isn't their some sort of rumour involving Alfreddson being traded?

If I was given a choice to choose Manning or Brady to be my starter for my franchise, I would not know who to choose. They are both excellent quarterbacks who can win games with their talents alone.
  3. Toronto beats Buffalo, handing the Sabres their first loss in regulation all year. Toronto was great. Barely any mistakes by the defence, good penalty killing and some good play along the boards gave us the opportunity to take the game. Buffalo looked outmatched, which is strange considering how they have started this year and the way they played last season. Toronto looks like a streaky team. The Leafs can beat the best when they are on their game and doing what Paul Maurice wants from them. I think as the season goes on and Maurice continues to teach everyone the new systems and puts his stamp on the team, the Leafs will stop having those horrible games like they did against Florida and be more competitive on those off nights. I don't expect Toronto to be one of the best teams in the league this year, but we have shown flashes of being that talented. Ottawa continues to stink at home. They really need to do something. They can't play this inconsistant all year, can they?
  4. The Florida game was awful. We played one good period and almost stole at least a point, but it wasn't to be. If we play with that much effort in Buffalo, we are fucked.
  5. We drop three straight, and then we win three straight. If you look at it, we have gained a point for the last seven games played going back to the shootout loss to the Rangers. I do like that Paul Maurice is not afraid to tinker with the lines in games we are losing. He put out the old Antropov/Sundin/Ponikarovsky line, and they did well. They got the empty netter, but more importantly created scoring chances and nearly dominated the Lightning defence against the boards. I still don't know what to make of Florida this year. Last time we faced them Bertuzzi and Auld were the only bright lights for them in a game we dominated and yet almost lost. If Toronto can play smart and responsible in their own end like they did against Tampa, then it will be Toronto's game. If Florida forechecks hard and puts pressure on Ian White and Brenden Bell and create some turnovers, then it is their game to lose.
  6. Well, you do have your 3 best players sitting out with injuries. Tuomo Ruutu, Micheal Handzus, Martin Havlat. All out. Behind that, your team doesn't have much scoring depth.

It is great to see Micheal Vick get the job done through the air instead of the ground. I think it is a good sign for the franchise that he is capable of doing it on the ground and in the air, because you cannot just have your QB run and run and run. It is both a risk healthwise and it is something that other teams will be able to defend against. Having Vick throw as well as he runs, it makes it almost impossible to completely smother him. He can get away from almost all rushes, he has the legs to gain any short yardage needed, and he has the arm to go deeeeeeeeeeeep.
  9. Well, in my case it is more of how I use him. Any time I fall behind by more then a goal I start putting him on the fourth line as well as the first, and the top line always gets big minutes from me. And Sundin is just a great player overall, and having Kyle Wellwood on the ice with him at every opportunity just complements him so much. I would like the get another winger for him, but picking up Chris Drury (who is also pretty good right now) on re-entry waivers (meaning half price) leaves me with only a tiny amount of room to work.
  10. Playing games back to back can suck, and neither Florida or Tampa Bay are pushovers. I think the Lightning are starting to hit their stride.
  11. I have a hard time getting Sundin to stop scoring for me. I want McCabe, O'Neill, Steen, anyone to step up. But alas, Sundin has scored like 20 goals in 17 games or something like that.
  12. Sweet! Our first time all season winning two straight, a good performance from the defence and solid goaltending from Raycroft (the second Atlanta goal was weak), and now we have two road games back to back in Florida. I want to see Toronto win both games, but a split would still be good.
  13. My ex used to have a crush on Sidney Crosby and used to play as the Penguins in NHL 07 against me.
  14. Been watching since the start. One of the best shows on TV right now, and it is one of the rare sci-fi shows that makes you forget it is sci-fi.
  15. Poor Toronto. We all thought we were a decent team and then BAM! Ottawa finally wakes up this season and unloads for 13 goals in 2 games. That was brutal. And I can't even say Raycroft was awful. He did let in a stinker or two, but our defense was awful. Too many times were players like Mike Fisher or Dany Heatley allowed to walk straight into the slot and stay there without anyone challenging them. I think we are really feeling the loss of Kubina and Wozniewski on the blueline. We need to win against Montreal. We have three straight losses. We cannot let that go to four. Hopefully we can win against Montreal, build momentum, and finally win two in a row.
  16. I would never want to play in Chicago as a hockey player. Every year it's injuries upon injuries, the only team I think that has the right to complain more about injuries over the last couple years is LA.
  17. Toronto for the two. Good game by the Leafs on the defensive side for the majority of the game. Except for one huge mistake that left Malhotra open right in the crease, the Leafs blueline looked great with McCabe and Kaberle split up. Now they can be aggresive offensively while whoever is paired with them can be more defensive in case of a rush by the other team. McCabe got the monkey off his back, scoring the opening goal for us. Wellwood and Tucker continued to show great chemistry, Peca got his first as a Leaf, and the 4th line continues to give us some production. After losing really badly to the Avalanche, it was good to see the team come out looking strong. We took some penalties, but made the Colombus powerplay (which was ranked highly coming into the game) look poor. The Rangers are tomorrow, which will be a tough test. Peca shutting down Jagr has to happen, but the scoring depth that now exists on the team makes it extremely hard to shut them down. Hopefully Toronto can score early, put pressure on the Rangers to score and play as well defensively as they did tonight.
  18. I am praying to my Mats Sundin shrine that we play better then we did against Colorado.
