It is going to be tough for the Leafs to make, especially with the next five games including the Devils, Sabres, and two games with the Senators. However, Montreal and Carolina have not done anything to increase their leads on the Leafs, so Toronto has a chance if they can get going here. It will be tough, but if they can come out of the next 5 games with a winning record, then they have a great shot at the playoffs.

That deal was pretty close to nothing at all, keeping in mind the player they sent away. Smyth is no point-per-game guy (even though he WAS this year), but he is heart and soul. He plays gritty two way hockey, and essentially Stevie Y without the incredible offence years. If Tanguay got 5.2 mil, then Smyth deserved to get 5.5 or 5.7, no doubt.

I got really lucky. Marco Sturm has been the star for my Blackhawks, but I got him to sign for two extra years for 200,000 more then what he makes more as soon as he arrived in town. Same thing with Handzus. Right away he signed on for two more years for only 2,000 more a year, and he is also looking at a career year in points and assists.

It's not just numbers with Ryan Smyth, it was the way he played for the team and the way he led them. Wasn't it earlier this season he lost three teeth, just to get them packed in and go back onto the ice? Smyth really did not want to leave, judging by his speech at the airport. If they were only $300,000 apart, that is pretty bad. A part of this may be because of last year. I think the Oilers may have painted themselves into a corner, overpaying for some of their players like Fernando Pisani.

The Departed was the best movie of 2006 in my opinion, so that is a must watch.

I hate Nikolai Khabibulin. When my defence plays well and only allows like 15 to 20 shots on goal, he fucking sucks and lets in 4 or 5. When the other team annihilates us and gets 40 shots, its a shutout for Khabibulin. Am I the only one that always, ALWAYS, appeals suspensions in this game?

Toronto outplays the Sabres in the first period, but are down 1-0 because of Ryan Miller. Toronto needs to get one past Miller quickly in the second, then keep chipping away.

I bet it was either Smyth's agent telling someone he knew in the Islanders organization that Smyth was not signing, or the Islanders just made a last minute call when they had not heard of Smyth resigning yet.

Fair enough. Some people just don't like their style, and some of their early fans despise the newer stuff they did. Any live video or song is awesome, because the skills of Geddy Lee just are shown off huge. Especially on the duelling solos he does with Lifeson.

Stajan was rumoured at the deadline to move this year, too. He has been pretty good this season, and I would like to see him sign a long term deal soon.

Tucker is back for four more years too, so your friends were probably making blind assumptions. Peca could be back before the end of the regular season, but it is more likely that he would return for the second round of the playoffs if Toronto were lucky enough to get there. I can see the Leafs trying to bring him back for next year if possible, because he was great for the penalty kill, taking it from almost last the previous year to middle of the pack.

The Leafs also have some good prospects coming up like Nikolai Kulemin (I think thats the spelling), Jiri Tlusty and Jeremy Williams seems to do better in NHL games then AHL games.
