  1. "There's No Crying In Baseball!" "The Ending Of Return Of The Jedi"
  2. After his fight, Griffin was apologetic for it being boring. It wasn't though, he just used intelligence to fight, moving in and out with low kicks and punches and really preventing his opponent from doing anything. The Franklin fight was poop. Franklin won the first two rounds by moving forward and landing one or two kicks and one or two jabs. He was almost submitted in the final round, but got out and won. He didn't look like an improved fighter.
  3. I hope they change the name of the team if it actually does move, even though I doubt the NHL will allow the move.
  4. I think that is a nice move, getting rid of Samsonov for Cullimore and Salmalainen. With this deal, the Habs get rid of the useless Samsonov (at least, useless for their needs), get a little more room to do things by saving a little money, get a good 6th defenceman and a player who has a lot of speed and, at 25, still has a lot to learn about the NHL game.
  5. The Blue Jackets finally named someone to become the GM of the team just a week before the NHL draft. Scott Howson will be filling the hole made when the team fired Doug MacLean, who had been the teams original general manager. Howson, if I remember correctly, was an assistant general manager with the Edmonton Oilers. The Montreal Canadiens resigned Chris Higgins and Mike Komisarek to two year deals each.
  6. My XBOX runs for at least 8 hours a day between me and my two brothers, I've had it for a year, and I have not had one problem. The PS3 does have the amazing looking Formula One game though...
  7. From day one though, even with Sutter out of the coaching position, it was still Sutter's team. Will that work with Mike Keenan? I don't see him just rolling over and doing whatever Sutter wants, and I am unsure whether Keenan would stick with the same defensive scheme.
  8. In training camp and early in the season, Aubin never showed coach Paul Maurice anything that would persuade him to give him more playing time. Not getting into enough games is not an excuse - the players practice for a reason.
  9. Aubin was very shakey and inconsistent last season, which is why Andrew Raycroft was leaned upon to play more then 70 games in a season.
  10. Keenan getting new job? It sounds like Calgary may be signing Mike Keenan on as their head coach now.
  11. I like Las Vegas as a market as well. Each casino could have a luxury box for themselves to give to high rollers and big spenders in the casinos, and all the points you said are also true. Just because it is a city based upon gambling does not mean it would be a poor place for a hockey team. Heck, the city isn't even just about gambling - the whole family can now vacation in Vegas and everyone can have fun. I am pretty sure the city really wants a team too, so would be willing to do whatever Gary Bettman asked to get a team. Also, Vegas will always be a better market then Phoenix.
  12. Kubina was injured a lot. When he was playing, he looked good defensively for the most part and he was very strong. Of course, being paired with Kaberle at the end of the season allowed Kubina to start showing his offensive abilities as well.
  13. Also, the Flyers numbers for attendance were high because they sell a lot of season tickets, if I remember correctly.
  14. Just saw an interview with Ferguson Jr. on the Score, and it sounded like he does not want to move either Kubina or McCabe. I also found out through that interview that Kubina also has a no-trade clause. Almost half the team has one of those stupid things! Tuuka Rask was deemed expendable because of Justin Pogge. Pogge had a rough year last season on a Marlies team that was pretty shitty, but near the end of the season was looking better and better. Depending on who the Leafs bring in to back-up / replace Raycroft, Pogge could have a shot out of training camp to steal the back-up job.
  15. And, if you check out the TSN website, they are reporting that Balsille will be moving the team to Hamilton if he is allowed to after the first season with Nashville.
  16. So far, at least in terms of attendance, Columbus is doing pretty well for a team that has not been able to make the playoffs. Columbus actually finished 19th in the league in average attendance this season with 16,401. Chicago, St. Louis and and the Islanders finished in the bottom three - Chicago needs a winner, the St. Louis fans were warming up to the team again by the end of the year, and the Islanders really need a new building. Nashville and Atlanta did not draw well, placing 23rd and 21st respectively. Considering that both teams had winning seasons and played well, that shows you the interest in hockey in those areas. Columbus, with a losing team on the ice, drew a larger crowd then those two teams. This is the thing that blows my mind. Tampa Bay was third in attendance, drawing on average 19,876. That put them ahead of Toronto, who drew 19,487. NHL Attendance Numbers
  17. If the Wild are willing to loosen their hold on him, Manny Fernandez should be of great interest for the Leafs as a potential upgrade on Andrew Raycroft if they are uneasy entering next season with Raycroft in goal as the starter.
  18. Sundin signs new one-year deal! Well, the Sportsnet guys were off by a little bit. TSN is reporting that Sundin has signed a one year deal worth $5.5 million. Great news for me, as Sundin is my favourite hockey player.
  19. Turgeon set to retire Pierre Turgeon is about to call it quits. He is 27th all time in scoring and has 515 goals in his long career.
  20. I was thinking about it more positively... the Russian presence in Montreal means lots of shots, which means lots of showcasing how great Kiprusoff is... plus, there's nothing better than watching some good hitting, and the Flames have the size, especially on defense, to do some major damage with good legal bodychecks. (And the occasional backup goalie baseball swing)
  21. Ronnie James Dio and Twisted Sister? This is going to be a really fun game.
  22. Gary Bettman sees the NHL as a top league in North America, so I don't think he would be willing to sign a deal for next to nothing with ESPN. Of course, any deal is an improvement over the current deal with Versus, as no one even knows what the hell Versus is!
