  1. The St. Louis Blues got the rights to Keith Tkachuk back for only a conditional first round pick in 2008. Good move for them, they got who they wanted, and the conditional pick probably remains with St. Louis if it is in the top ten of the draft. I heard that Toronto has roughly $5 million to spend, and are looking to deal defenceman Ian White. Rumour is they want to bring back Peca (as long as he comes down from his previous salary) and then get a good depth scoring option.
  2. Toronto manages to crawl back to .500 on the year with a near no-hitter from Dustin McGowan, a huge homer from Vernon Wells, and number 499 from the Big Hurt.
  3. If Pierre McGuire a tool or what? Dude doesn't even realize that our defence is probably our strength. :pinch:
  4. Toronto was also offered Fernandez and Vokoun before the draft. If Mark Bell performs much better then last season and returns to being a twenty goal scorer, then this may have been the best deal available. Also, I have no clue who Toronto drafted with their few picks. I know they have a few guys in the system that could develop like Nikolai Kulemin, Justin Pogge and Jiri Tlusty, but the Leafs are pretty shallow in terms of young talent, except for Wellwood, Steen and few others.
  5. I see the Panthers could only stand going one year without an elite goaltender.
  6. My immediate reaction was not that good, but looking at everything involved, I like the deal. Mark Bell had a horrible year, but at 26 is still young and had some 20 goal seasons in Chicago. Maybe it was the system in San Jose, hopefully he can turn it around. He adds some scoring depth and physicality to the team. Toskala had great numbers last year in the 38 games he played. Having him makes Raycroft expendable if JFJ wants to move him, or gives Raycroft an added incentive to improve and play better. Some rumours now have JFJ shopping Raycroft and looking towards Pogge to step in as back-up, although that is premature. In his interview with Hockey Central, JFJ could not confirm the trade, but Sportsnet and TSN are reporting it. Ferguson also said priority number one is getting some more scoring, a forward who can put the puck in the net.
  7. Vesa Toskala and Mark Bell to the Toronto Maple Leafs for three draft picks, and they sound like a first, second and fourth. This is a bold move from Ferguson, and this is out of character for him. I think this is a good move though, gives Toronto a strong goaltender who could start, a talented power forward who had a mediocre year in San Jose. Losing picks in the draft kind of suck, but I think that in this draft, it's alright to give those up. The other news is Manny Fernandez to Boston, but I don't know anything else about the deal. I hate Basha.
  8. On TSN.ca, they are reporting that it is Andrei Zuyzin going to Chicago. Going from Chicago to Calgary, that has to be a very easy trade to waive your no trade clause for.
  9. I know the character models will look good, as the motion capturing was done by the same people who did the King King game and the Lord Of The Rings games from EA.
  10. I don't know about Aucoin. I am unsure what he will be able to do if he is healthy throughout a whole season, and if he gets injured and misses a lot of time again, then he is not worth the $4 million salary.
  11. You are right about Ohlund. He can play in both ends of the ice and can be a good number one defenceman. If it takes losing Ohlund to move up in what is considered a weak draft, then that is too high a cost. I don't see Naslund doing what Federov has done and drastically changing his game at this point in his career. Federov was learning defence in Detroit in the prime of his career alongside Steve Yzerman, while Naslund is 32-33 and on the downswing. I think he may be able to rebound and have another point per game season, I think his offensive skills are there. He just needs to play with the right people, and those people may not be the Sedin's or Brendan Morrison.
  12. Nathan Horton has resigned with the Panthers to a new six year deal and the Leafs resigned Carlo Colaiacovo.
  13. The rumours that persist about the Leafs trying to shop Bryan McCabe are interesting. He is a personal favourite of mine and he is a consistent point producer from the blueline. However, he can make defensive mistakes and counts for $7.1 million against the cap. Looking at who Toronto has already with Kubina, Kaberle, Gill, Colaiacovo, White and possibly Staffan Kronwall, the Leafs could make the deal as long as McCabe waived his no-trade. This would give the Leafs the money to get one great player, and then they would still have enough to fix some holes throughout the line-up.

The part of the CD that sounds like the orgy is great to have at full volume when going through a McDonald's drive-thru.
  15. I think that controller looks way better then the current ones. It looks more realistic and like the real thing then the current SG and X-plorer controllers.
  16. I'm going to get this game BECAUSE it is rated AO. That is so fucking cool!
  17. The Flyers overpayed to prevent Hartnell and Timonen from waiting until free agency to sign with someone else. Kaberle is a better puck moving defenceman, and he is getting $2 million less per year right now.
  18. So Muckler is gone, Murray moves up to the GM spot, Claude Julien is the head coach in Boston now, and the Flyers gave the Predators their first rounder back for the rights to Scott Hartnell and Kimmo Timonen and promptly signed them both. AND TORONTO HAD INTEREST IN HARTNELL! WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH H! The move changes the landscape in Philly a bunch. They already improved at the deadline during the season getting Zhitnik and Biron. Adding Hartnell and Timonen puts the Flyers closer to becoming a playoff team again. With the right signings on July 1st, this could be an interesting team to watch.
  19. This is tough, as what I would really want to see together would be CKY and Three Six Mafia.
  20. I enjoy going to the movie theatre and seeing a movie on the big screen. Whether it is available online for free somewhere doesn't even enter my train of thought. And I really disliked Hostel. If you search through the "What Movie Did You See Today?" thing, you'll probably find the post I put up where I said I really disliked it. I actually laughed at parts, and cringed at some of the cheesy acting in the film.
