  1. I was so glad to see Ellen Page not win Best Actresses. I didn't find her performance in Juno to be THAT good. She was quirky and funny, but Micheal Cera has had that shit down for awhile now.
  2. Prospal has been dealt to the Flyers and Dan Boyle has been locked up for 6 years by the Lightning.
  3. America Fuck Yeah! Vesa Toskala was great in goal and the Senators look like a pretty bad hockey team all of a sudden. Mats Sundin had a good game, Darcy Tucker has 8 goals in 8 games and Toronto may have some momentum right now. Sadly, 8th and 9th played tonight and went to overtime.
  4. It was about tagging room for next season. Toronto ends the first period with a 1-0 lead over Ottawa....and Mats Sundin is the goal scorer.
  5. Niedermayer DID count against the cap. If he has formally retired, he would have been cleared because of his age. Brian Burke was happy to let him sit and take the cap hit because he could get someone if Niedermayer stayed away and if he came back, then he just got one of the best d-men in the league. He did count against the cap.
  6. The Sundin era isn't over. And I knew deep down that Forsberg would go to Colorado. Thats a huge addition, great insurance in case Sakic or Stastny aren't 100% going into the playoffs. Considering that the Avalanche didn't need to give up anything except money, taking the risk to get Foppa is worth it. A one year deal is a great move.
  7. I hate the whole buy-out idea, I hated seeing the cap hit for Domi and Belfour sitting there. I think if we cant move them, we might as well try and get a better year from Tucker and Kubina and these guys next season. Jason Blake is almost untradeable too. I think its almost certain that there will be a new coach next season, too.
  8. That trade makes no sense at all. Hossa is going to want an arm and a leg to sign a new contract, otherwise he's gone at the end of the season... and Richards is making something like $7.8 million a season. That's not rebuilding... that's just stupid. I'd much rather them trade their best players for draft picks and guys who have potential, but haven't been able to breakout yet. I'm not a Leafs fan, but I hope that Sundin signs a new contract for next season. They're going to need their leader, and if they can start hot out of the gate, they can probably make the post-season next year.
  9. Fuck it. With Mats Sundin remaining a Toronto Maple Leaf, I am now 100% supporting the idea that Toskala, Sundin and the Leafs will get hot starting tonight and they will squeeze into the playoffs and make some noise.
  10. I hope this doesn't mean he is going to retire. Despite this move, I still see Sundin as my favourite player of all time. I am kind of pleased actually that he is going to stay. And Fletcher still has other deals to make. Rumours are floating that McCabe is willing to waive his clause to go to New York (either) and their is some interest from the Rangers and Islanders. Tucker and Kaberle are both not waiving their clauses though.
  11. Montreal blows a lead and Toronto rolls over for Buffalo. Awesome.
  12. Toronto plays in a mediocre win and the Canadiens have an amazing comeback. Cool.
  13. But it signs guys to big contracts that are annoying.
  14. Howard should have won, but his Superman thing wasn't that impressive.
  15. Jaroslav Modry to the Flyers for a third round pick. The LA sale is now on.

    Star Trek

After watching recent Sci-Fi shows like Battlestar Galactica and having someone turn me onto the greatness of Babylon 5, I have lost almost all interest in Star Trek. Except for the Dominion War episodes during DS9, I just can't get into the episodes anymore. I guess I now expect these long, interesting plots that cut across whole seasons or the entire run of the show. The movies are different though. Wrath of Kahn is one of my favourite films of all time and the rest of the movies (except Final Frontier and The Motion Picture) are pretty enjoyable. My favourite Captain has got to be Captain Kirk, followed by Picard and Sisko. Archer beats Janeway simply because Backula was in Quantum Leap. The Reliant is my favourite ship in the whole Star Trek Universe. The best second in command was Riker, and the best episode in the entire Star Trek history is "Balance Of Terror".
  18. NHL 08 needs more penalty calls against the computer, harder saucer passes, and some minor tweaks. Also, they need to fix some dynasty stuff. I've had the CPU sign guys at the end of the season for me that I wanted to let go off and I have no idea why.
  19. I want some predictions people. I want people to tell me who they think will win the goal scoring title, who will be the league MVP, which teams will be in the conference finals, and who is winning the Stanley Cup. I think the Art Ross and the Richard trophies are going to Ovechkin. Ovie has been a dominant player; he reminds me of Mario in his prime the way he could just take over a game by himself. They are different of course, but I think Ovechkin has proven this year that he is arguable the best player in the NHL right now. If the Capitals make it to the playoffs, Ovechkin gets my vote for the Hart Trophy as the MVP. The other candidates I could see would be Evgeni Nabokov, Evgeni Malkin and Joe Thornton as a real longshot. Detroit gets the President's Trophy. In the Western Conference, I am going to pick Anaheim and San Jose to meet in the Conference Finals. I always get the feeling that Detroit will blow it huge, even though they are clearly the best team in the league right now. The East comes down to Ottawa and Philadelphia, I think. Montreal could sneak in, but Ottawa is just really powerful and despite all the BS, they have two great goaltenders right now. Philly is perfect as a playoff team, so I think they can make some noise. I would like to see the Ducks and Sens meet again in the Finals. I rooted against the Senators last time (as a Leafs fan, I had to). This time, I'll cheer for the Senators simply to bring the Cup back to Canada. A game 7 in Kanada, Ontario would be cool.
