  1. My favourite moment from the whole day was hearing Brian Burke say that he wants to work on an extension with Kaberle. If we go into next season with him, our defence could be incredibly strong. Kaberle, Phaneuf, Komisarek, Beauchemin, Schenn and Gunnarson would make a very, very good defence corp - especially if healthy. The Leafs just need to get ANYONE who can score to help out Kessel and to figure out the goaltending. I like Giguere and I am confident Gustavsson will develop into solid goaltender.
  2. I don't think I understand why the Flames traded for Toskala.
  3. I also don't think a loss by Hendo would hurt him much at this point in his career.
  4. They probably could have received a 2nd rounder, and that is hit or miss. Burke probably sees something in Caputi now, and he is already playing in the AHL and has some NHL games under his belt.
  5. So Ponikarovsky goes to the Pengiuns for Martin Skoula and Luca Caputi. Skoula is probably just an expiring contract although he will be a decent fill in for Komisarek right now. The only thing I know about Caputi is that he is 21 years old.
  6. I didn't realize that Arlovski is only 31 years old. I guess he has plenty of time to get his career back on track after those two devastating losses to Fedor and Brett Rogers.
  7. Exactly. In Jacksonville, the hype about the hometown hero might help sell tickets. Everywhere else, I'd expect the scouts to be looking carefully at Tebow and making their own decisions.
  8. Jordan Leopold is now a Pittsburgh Penguin. Florida received a second round pick for him.
  9. Except in Jacksonville's unique situation, I do not see how media hype can affect the scouting reports these teams have on Tebow. I think he deserves a shot, but not in the first few rounds.
  10. Sounds like a good interview to me!
  11. I think its a smart move. They are obviously not spending like the Yankees and Red Soxs. Moving Lee helped them to keep their farm system stocked so they can remain competitive in the future without spending $200 million on salary.
  12. Awesome. I enjoyed 2002 more, but the way this game ended makes it a classic. Also, the US team was amazing this year and deserves a lot of praise. I hope that they get some attention for their accomplishment.
  13. Here is another gold, this time in the Relay.
  14. Tremblay got sliver because they ruled that the South Korean went down on his own. So Gold and Sliver for Canada there. Really looking forward to the 5000m relay in about 20 minutes. Really hoping that Ohno and the Koreans crash again. Go for 4 medals today and tie the record for most medals in a day. Oh, thats even better!
  15. Charles Hamelin wins gold, Trembley wins bronze for Canada in 500m short track speed skating.
  16. Kinda sad to see Bernard miss the shot for the easy win in the tenth, but silver is still good. I just hope the men can get gold this time.
  17. I've read more about it and thought about it, and I am now not bothered by the women celebrating on the ice. I guess if Team Canada can do it in 1972 after beating Russia, Team Canada can do it in 2010 after beating the US.
  18. The Battletanx commercial with a teddy bear getting blown away is pretty bad ass.
  19. The players were idiotic. Go celebrate in the locker room or with your friends and family somewhere. Why come back onto the ice half an hour later, still in uniforms with beer cans in your hand. Poulin who's still underage was one of the players photographed. Anyone know why they came back onto the ice? Why the hell would you not celebrate elsewhere? I'm with you. Way to be role models to little girls around the country, Team Canada.
  20. The performance of the South Korean was amazing. One of the few times I've actually been drawn into a figure skating routine.
  21. At this point in the tournament, every team has a goaltender capable of stealing a game. Beating Russia was awesome, but it does not equal an easy path to the gold medal game. The US and Ryan Miller already showed us that. Halak has been great for Slovakia so far. I wonder if he can carry this momentum, win or lose tomorrow, with him when he rejoins the Canadiens.
  22. I haven't noticed that happening except with the centers who can do that, like Bargnani.
  23. I started as the Warriors now, and decided to not sign any free agent to be a starter. Three seasons in, Monta Ellis and Curry are both 20 points and 10 assists per game players. My starters have been the same for 3 seasons, with Curry-Ellis-Magette-Johnson-Biedrins. I did get Ben Wallace as a back-up centre and drafted E. Davis (PF) who is now rated 78 overall. I am the 3rd ranked team in the West and the highest scoring team in the NBA. I sim half my games, but this line-up is too fun to play with to sim.
  24. The one thing I hate about the average Canadian hockey fan is that they don't realize that other countries play hockey too...and play it well. Yes, our team is probably the best on paper, but the talent gap is such that if we played the US team 10 times, we would win 6 or 7 but not all of them. My friends acted like the world was ending when they saw the US winning, but if your a Leafs fan and see Ryan Miller a lot, you know what he can do. I actually think the Canadians can take some positives away from that game. They had a lot of good pressure and generated a lot of quality chances. If they can do that again against Germany and Russia, then we are in business.
  25. I've been happy with these games so far. A lot of great moments. Watching Bilodeau win the gold was just an awesome spectacle.
