  1. Kane's breakaway goal was a beauty. Carter almost got the game winner in overtime, but the referee said he was blowing his whistle before Carter was tucking the puck into the net. Still, very fun game to watch. AND the Flyers have won it! Fun game, and it is good to see that the Blackhawks are going to have a challenge here. If Philly can win the next one, then suddenly this is a new series.
  2. As long as it is up to the umpires regarding when they go to instant replay, then I would be fine with it. It can't be used any time the manager comes out of the dug out, and it cannot be used to argue balls and strikes.
  3. I really hope Rich Franklin can win against Chuck Liddell. As much as I like Chuck, Rich is one of my favourite fighters and I would really enjoy seeing him work his way towards another title shot at either Middleweight or Light Heavyweight.
  4. Purely because I love Community, I support this. Plus, it would be something different for a change.

I watched Marquardt and Almeida go to a decision. I've only watched the one event though, since it was my first time on PPV.

My Heavyweight is 18-3. I've avenged my loses to Hardonk and Duffee, and still need to get even with Kongo. I was on a big winning streak and Kongo was the #2 ranked Heavyweight. He stuffed my attempts to ground him then knocked me out. I've recovered and won 4 of my last 5 (with the loss to Hardonk coming because I went into the fight with 100% fatigue by accident). Once you get to the better sparring partners, the stats decay isn't so bad. I almost have all my stats to 50 now.

So once you reach 30 or 50 or 70, your stat can't go below that?

I'm now 8-1 in my career. It seems like you should spend the first weeks and months learning new moves, since you need to spar almost non-stop later on. In my UFC debut, Todd Duffee knocked me out. I then won my next two and after making Kimbo submit, I called out Duffee. I then went on to take his arm too.

I wish they had premade fighters like in 2009. I don't have the patience to go through all the sliders to adjust an eyebrow.

I am not sure if I like career mode so far. I am only three fights in, but I find it annoying that my stats can decrease so early in my career. I can barely improve my stats at all. Also, I still can't submit people using the "shine". I had no problem mashing buttons, but this new technique screws me up.
  11. The Flyers barely made it into the playoffs, and now they are playing for the Cup. Even though they only had 88 points in the regular season, I think you have to look at them as a serious contender along with the Hawks. I know some members of the media picked the Flyers to do well and some even predicted a Cup win, so they are not your typical 7th/8th seed. Also, Jiri Hudler will be rejoining the Red Wings next season.
  12. "Alright Mr. Day, I'll put on a wetsuit and jetski with you!"
  13. Wow, Montreal. That was a pretty good performance. If they can get Game 4, then they can put the poor start out of the mind and start new with all the momentum in their corner. It will be interesting to see how both goaltenders perform in the next game. I am sure Leighton will face some critisicm and it will be interesting to see him respond.
  14. Just watched the season finales of Community and Parks & Rec. Both shows have been great this season, and I really excited for next season.

I am excited that this comes out next week. I've got it preordered for the PS3 and I really want to check out the new Career mode.
  16. A 100 MPH fastball is special, but not unique in the Majors. It is how he can vary the speed on his fastball, then throw a good breaking pitch that seperates Strasburg from the rest. And of course, if he does become a "Randy Johnson" type, is that a bad thing?
  17. Based on my observations, I am beginning to think that the majority of hockey fans are very stupid.

Anyone know of a player who I could get for around $3,000,000 that is good at free kicks? In 30 games, I have scored once with a free kick. I'm getting them on target, but not with the power neccessary to score. I currently have James Harper taking my kicks, but I would like someone with more power.
  19. I can easily see why Montreal fans would think their team is destined to win this year with the way they beat the two top teams in the East. Philly fans probably feel the same way after seeing their team win after being down 3 games to none. I just think that Montreal's speed will be able to neutralize Philadelphia's size. Halak has been fantastic and I don't think the Philadelphia goaltending will be as strong.
  20. Montreal matches up better against Philly, in my opinion.

Ahhhh. That makes sense to me.
  22. I think only 2 have been won by the team that started down 3-0.

I'm playing as Reading. I signed a Spanish defender named Carlos Bellvis to a 5 year deal. I played a few games with him...then suddenly he is off of my roster and on a diferent team! What happened?
  24. Oh no question it was a shit hole, but it was OUR shit hole. The Mellon is a historic place and it's the place where whole generations of hockey fans in Pittsburgh grew to love the sport and the team. I myself have too many memories of that building to count. Sure the Powerhouse is going to be awesome, but a part of me still misses Three Rivers Stadium, so I'll always have a spot in my heart for the Igloo. That's true. If I was a regular at Pens games, I'd probably miss the old place too.
  25. I don't think Mellon Arena closing is a big deal. In its final years, it was an awful arena. I can remember games between the Leafs and Penguins being delayed because of power issues. I can't wait to see the Penguins in a new, modern arena. From almost moving out of the state to a Stanley Cup and a new arena. It's been an eventful decade for the Penguins.
