  1. I already did something about this for another site but that was to select a team of 23 as if it was a selection for a world cup... i might as well copy paste it in here... Lev YASCHIN - GK - The best goalkeeper of all times. Gordon BANKS - GK - Chosen out of a big bunch. Another one like the German Sepp Maier could have taken his place. Peter SCHMEICHEL - GR - Never a goalie was so decisive for a world/euro cup triumph as Schmeichel was for Denmark's Euro 92 cup win. This is really not overrating him as i've seen the usual long list of guys who come along when discussing these things. It could have been another one just like in the case of Banks, but he's as good a choice as them. Franz BECKENBAUER - Sweeper, Center Midfielder - The kaiser is without a doubt the best Sweeper i've seen playing. Amazing bringing the ball upfront from behind. Frank RIJKAARD - Center Midfielder, Defender - Great midfielder for Milan, great central defender for Ajax, great anchorman for the national team. Franco BARESI - Sweeper, Central Defender - Last pick for the defense. Wanted a fourth Central Back and this was the first that came to mind, but it could have been another one. Daniel PASSARELLA - Central Defender, Sweeper - Dominant in the defense and able to score upfront. DJALMA SANTOS - Right Wing Back - I had doubts on whether i should pick this one or Carlos Alberto. The fact that this one is better defensively while being just as good offensively gave him the edge. NILTON SANTOS - Left Wing Back - Very good left wing back. I have the feeling i'm forgetting someone though. Johan NEESKENS - Central Midfielder - The most versatile player i've seen playing. DIDI - Central Midfielder, 10 - Artist. Spectacular. The true star of the 58 world cup. Diego Armando MARADONA - 10, Left Interior - The best 10 ever. The best player ever as a whole, and the most decisive player ever to his teams. ZICO - 10, Center Forward - Would be a great replacement for Maradona in the all time team. Amazing player. PELÉ - Center Forward, Left Interior - Possibly the best forward ever and also the most versatile offensively. JAIRZINHO - Right Winger, Center Forward, 10 - Underrated. You can't score in every single game in a whole world cup out of luck. Ultra fast, great in the 1on1 and a goalscorer. Mané GARRINCHA - Right Winger - If there's a player who could be said to have hands on his feet, that player was Mané Garrincha. The Joy of the People as he was called. The star of the 62 world cup. Roberto RIVELINO - 10, Left Interior - Fabulous in the 70 World Cup, and another underrated one for playing alongside Pele. Thunderous striking and huge ability. The same dribble Rivaldo got famous for doing when playing for Barcelona, Rivelino was excelling at it 30 years before. Johan CRUIJFF - Center Forward, Left Interior - One of my favourite players ever. Calling him a center forward is extremely reductive. He did it all. Nuclear player on the 3 European Cups won in a row by Ajax and also when playing for Barcelona and Holland. The star of the 74 World Cup and Holland should have really won that one. Zsoltan CZIBOR - Left Winger, I couldn't think of a better Left Winger. Someone who would get to the line, assist, organize, and score with such ease as he did. Therefore gets his place. Alfredo DI STEFANO - Center Forward, 10 - Just imagine the Playmaking ability of a Zidane at his best and the finishing ability of Ronaldo at his best. That's right. Two "galacticos" in one. I can't imagine how much would he cost had he played nowadays. Ferenc PUSKAS - Center Forward, Left Interior - Super goalscorer and true magician with the ball. One of the two biggest stars of the Real Madrid team that won 5 consecutive European Champions Cups (Now Champions League), and the major Star of the Hungary team that lost only one game in 6 years including qualifying games, friendly games, olympic games and World Cup games. Unfortunately for them, that loss came in the World Cup Final where they lost 3-2, and even then he scored the 3-3 but it was ruled offside. Marco VAN BASTEN - Striker - Got noticed scoring goals that most people like to watch... Bycicle Kicks, strikes without much angle, and acrobatic ones. He was also a very complete player. Unfortunately, injuries ended his career too soon. Gerd MULLER - Striker - Just because i think every team should have a bomberman. A mercyless striker as it's shown by his numbers: 68 goals in 62 games in the National Team and 14 goals in two world cups. Also, honorable mentions to George Best who was in my opinion the best British player ever, and Gerson who was a GREAT brazilian midfielder in the 70's but the competition is plenty. That's what i had written. If i had to pick a top ten out of those i would say 1- Maradona, 2 - Johan Cruyff, 3 - Mane Garrincha, 4 - Pele, 5 - Alfredo di Stefano with Franz Beckenbauer as the best player ever in defensive positions.
  2. Everyone has their price and if I was Carlo I would want a move, considering that he didn't play all that much during the season. Either way, its just a thought. ←
  3. The problem that confuses some people is that nowadays if a lead singer screams during a song people will call it emo, while it has nothing to do with it. Sunny Day Real Estate were a great emo band and they're songs weren't like that at all. Emo is good (maybe not for jocks or tuffs but it's good). I would label FFAF faster as a metal band than an emo band, but i would call them a rock band with lots of influences. As for people cheering or booing it has to do with the alternative fashion that is in vogue. "Alternative" People used to love emo a few years ago, but now is out of fashion and that grew to the emo-core's and screamo's and so on. Around 97 it seemed like everyone in the world would create a third wave Ska-punk band. Trends come and go, and some people move along with them. btw, I like jimmy eat World too.
  4. Regarding the rumours floating around that Figo would join Tottenham, Florentino Perez has said that the only three English Teams that have contacted him to discuss terms (nothing certain, just first approaches) were Liverpool, Manchester United and Middlesbrough. Middlesbrough contacted them after not being able to renew Zenden's contract who'll be out of contract in the end of the season and may go to Liverpool.
  5. I haven't got it yet, but i'll give my thoughts on it whenever i get it. Anyway, i can say i liked when i first heard Seven ways to scream your name. While i didn't think of Casually Dressed & Deep in Conversation (which i heard later) as a worse album as a whole, i just didn't listen to it as much because i didn't think there were great songs on it. Let's see what comes out of this one.
  6. I find it funny that Forlan signed with both Barcelona and Blackburn, and Fernando Torres with both Liverpool and Villarreal but nothing beats this one Samuel Eto'o, Ronaldinho, Carles Poyul, Thiago Motta, Xavi & Maxi Lopez is set to join Manchester United in a swap deal for Nistelrooy, Scholes, O'shea, Kleberson, Giggs & David Bellion! It's like trading cards people
  7. I wouldn't be suprised. I think hes number 23 because there was nothing else left, his other numbers 7 and 10 were taken. So he had to settle for a weird number. Just like Zidane, Figo and Owen. ←
  8. I must say i was really surprised when i first listened to it. I was a huge Oasis fan back when Definitely maybe and Morning Glory were released. I still liked Be Here Now a lot even if i didn't find it to be as good as the previous 2. Standing on the Shoulder of Giants was a HUGE disappointment, and later that, coupled with the fact that i didn't like the singles of Heathen Chemistry, even made me not get said album (the first Oasis album i wasn't getting). I wasn't expecting to get this album either but as i got the opportunity of getting it for free i checked it out without any good expectations at all. Turn up the Sun drowned my expectations even more... but after that one, which i don't like at all, came 5 good songs. This sequence alone put the album above Standing the Shoulder of Giants in my preferences even if there wasn't any more songs. Then there was Guess God thinks I'm Abel, which in my opinion is the second worse song on the Album, and that's about it when talking about bad songs on this album. Part Of the Queue is amazing and in my opinion the best song on the album. The songs that follow it are Keep the Dream Alive and A Bell Will Ring which are also very good songs. Let there Be Love is a good closer, and i like albums to close that way. As a whole this album is miles above SoTSoG which was very good considering the expectations i had. I still don't think it's anything as good as the first two but still i like it a lot.
  9. I'm hoping for a Nadal vs Puerta final, although we all know Federer is a great player and Davydenko has been in great form throughout the tourney. I don't think either match will be bad. And i think any of the 4 possible results in the finals have about 25% chances of happening. I'm hoping for the Nadal vs Puerta 25's.
  10. Exactly the point I was trying to make in response to The Monkey Molester's question. ←
