  1. Haven't seen it yet. Is it like Birdman?
  2. Rumours in Spain say they asked more than 50. Anywyay, Willian José was scoring enough for Real before the manager change last season. With the new manager he's on a time share with the backup. It's not like he's scored those goals in 20 full games. He rarely plays 90 minutes and that's why he wanted out (it's not like he's going to get that with Mourinho anyway). He's tall and strong and that helps him hold possession, wait for his teammates and get them chances. I think their fans liked him. Having said that, I think that is way too much for him and they'll be happy if they get 40M after paying 6M for him. I'm sure they could find someone better for 30M.
  3. Absolute legend. I like the platters song too.
  4. You should have spenny moor. I'm sorry.
  5. Bill Haley! The first name I listen to on a regular basis so far. Cool songs with a nice rhythm and back beat. Simple and lovely to dance to. Famous, yes, but still love it.
  6. They really love Billie Holiday! Just saw she had another song n this list. As for the last 3 I liked Nolan Strong's. Shake Rattle and Roll was covered by pretty much everyone in the world of rock n roll (Chuck Berry, Bill Haley, Buddy Holly, Elvis, Fats Domino, Jerry Lee Lewis, etc..). I respect the fact he created the song but have to admit I prefer their versions.
  7. Once, in another fm my main playmaker got injured for 8 months around December and I had to buy someone in January because my backup was shit. That idiot got upset just like your BBM. After trying to tell him what I felt was the truth he was still upset so I thought "this is just a game, let's see if he relaxes a bit if I tell him not to worry that he will be the one playing" even if it didn't make much sense because he was injured. He was all like "I hope you keep your promise" and his morale did improve which is nonsensical but who am I to complain. However, a few months later he was complaining I didn't keep my word and demanded to be transfer listed! I hope this was fixed because it was very annoying.
  8. I like all three! I didn't care much about the last 3 but all of these are great. Also, well played picking the movie scene because I'm also a big fan of the movie!
  9. Looks like this is no longer happening. Also, from what I read I don't think they like him much in Porto.
  10. Jackie Brenston! Great stuff. Have to say I'm not a big fan of statements such as "first rock 'n' roll song" though, because it's always a case of where you draw the line and why. I am aware the song is commonly known as the first rock 'n' roll song, but some people claim there are more deserving candidates in the 40s. I've heard many of those songs, and some wouldn't feel out of place in many albums from well known rock n roll artists in the 50s. In any case rocket 88 was an obvious influence for many of those 50s musicians. Also, I expected something different from the first one because of Lou Bega. I'd never bother listening to the original song that inspired his own hit, which I didn't care much for either.
  11. I believe this was the set I enjoyed the least. I do agree with you though. Sarah Vaughan's voice is impressive. Her song is also the one I've heard the most out of these three, and unlike many others on this list, I've done it on purpose!
  12. Yeah, but it's not just that. In Madrid it's mostly that, but in Barcelona, if you don't play the style of football your fans want to see you'll have a hard time. As for the players most wanted Xavi as replacement and many don't seem happy with this decision.
  13. Valverde has been criticized for years (almost since the beginning to be fair) by many people. The quality just isn't there and many people consider he just lasted this long because Messi kept getting impossible wins out of nowhere. The thing is, Quique Setien obviously isn't the man most people wanted no matter how much he loves Cruyff, so if things don't improve he'll get the same treatment soon. Apparently Xavi would only accept the job if he was able to start in June and build the team his way, so they had to look for alternatives. It won't be an easy job no matter who gets it because whoever does will have to try and match Guardiola's Barcelona and that team lived off of Xavi and Iniesta's ability to 1-2 their way out of Shinjuku Station in rush hour, and those two are gone, and there's nobody like them in the team.
  14. Nice selection. I'm expecting a few years of good songs. At least until the sixties. All bias, I know.
  15. Roy Brown. Nice. Again, the song wouldn't have been my choice but nice to see him make the list.
  16. Nat King Cole is a lot of fun. Not a big fan of that particular song though. Also Flamenco will never be for me. Thank you. Next.
  17. There it is. This Land is your land. End of discussion.
  18. With those numbers? That's less than a goal every 5 games. Kuranyi prolly got closer to a goal every 2. Looks more like a midfielder/winger to me.
  19. You've heard their songs not knowing it's them. Trust me.
  20. The Ink Spots were pretty influential at the time. I understand they're different from pretty much everything you posted so far but they were influential for many people in doo-wop and rhythm and blues in general n the following decade. Also, many of their songs were used in movies and series (old and new), although mostly when the director wants to add an old timey vocal jazz vibe to a scene. The song itself is a surprise. They had many more successful/famous and I still feel the writer of that book will pick obvious choices more often than not.
  21. I'm pretty sure if your book was released this decade, "This Land Is Your Land" will. When the Compilation/Book Woody at 100 was released he started being mentioned everywhere as a big influence for musicians (folk or otherwise) who weren't shy about their political leanings. Obviously he wasn't unknown beforehand but that box set was nominated for grammies and came out in a few best of lists by music critics. Personally, I don't care much about these lists and awards and I'm not judging one way or another but considering the type of book, popularity among the music community will be taken into account, and the easiest way to get him in the book will be through "This Land Is Your Land".
  22. Why did you ask which Alan Smith then? It was wrong either way.
