  1. Atletico 77 Barcelona 76 Real Madrid 75 Atletico schedule: Real Sociedad ( H ) Osasuna ( H ) Valladolid ( A ) Real Madrid Schedule: Granada ( A ) Athletic ( A ) Villarreal ( H ) Barcelona Schedule: Celta ( H ) Eibar ( A ) EDIT: ffs, I wanted to add standings and schedule to my post and inadvertently deleted what I had written previously. Basically, I said Barcelona were 2-0 and 3-1 up against Levante, but eventually only got a point as it ended 3-3.
  2. Villarreal lost 2-4 at home vs Celta Vigo. 3 penalties, 3 red cards. 14 minutes added on (7 each half). Also Real Madrid 2-2 Sevilla. Real Madrid got an own goal on the 94th minute to avoid defeat.
  3. McDavid just hit 100 points in 53 games.
  4. The 3 of them will always be in European competitions. A bad year for any of them, they'll finish fourth. A terrible year they'll finish fifth or sixth. Those last spots will always be good enough for the Europa league.
  5. I got the new album but haven't heard it yet. I used to love them in the early 00s. Not as much nowadays, but I'll still check them out live every chance I can. If you haven't yet, check out Sing Loud, Sing Proud. It's still the album I'd recommend the most, though they rarely play any of those songs live anymore. The perfect combination (for my tastes obviously) of 90s punk rock, a couple of anthems to remind you of their earlier street punk days, and a few Celtic/Folk songs or covers. Blackout and the Warrior's Code are still similar but not as intense, I feel. I like those, but not as much. Then, Meanest of Times is sort of a transition album. I believe it's the first not on Hellcat Records and then it became way to folksy for my liking. Also, the times I've seen them live lately, people are really into their new stuff. I have to say I understand why but I wish they kept more pre-2007 material in their setlists.

    EWB Listening Club

My dad loved the Beatles so I've heard all their albums quite a lot. I'm not their biggest fan. When someone asks me about the Beatles, which has happened quite a lot, I just say "They're alright", because it's how I really feel about it. I do like quite a few bands that are/were obviously influenced by their music. I'll listen to this one again and see how I feel about it many years after the last time I heard the whole thing but I feel my opinion won't have changed much since the last time. However, and even though I'm not a big fan of the Beatles in general, I do like their earlier work, Please Please Me, With the Beatles, Beatles for Sale. Good stuff. Their early 60s work isn't up there in terms of complexity with what they did in the second half of the 60s, I guess, but I still like it more.
  7. I have all the punk o rama and oddly enough never got any of the warped tour compilations even though chances are I'd like them. To be fair, I don't care much for compilations but got the 1997 p-o-r because I still didn't know that many bands back then and then kept getting them every year out of habit. It's definitely something I wouldn't have done today.
  8. Covid and the super league made me forgot the Euros were a thing. Nice reminder we're less than a couple months away.
  9. He managed to say they'd be dead financially in 4 years and they'd be trying to sign Mbappe... in the same interview.
  10. In my mind, people born in the 2000s are in diapers. It's amazing to think most college kids were born this century. Did the same. I knew I was going to be older than all of them. I'm aware of my age but still, I'm 7 years older than fuckin' Andy Carroll and he's been around forever. I did not need to know this.
  11. So, Real Madrid, Barcelona and Juventus triple threat match for the first ESL title atm?
  12. Just saw this tweet: EUROPEAN SUPERLEAGUE 2020/21 STANDINGS 1 2 3 4 5 Inter 21/04 12:00 CET 6 Atletico 21/04 11:46 CET 7 Chelsea 21/04 01:51 CET 8 Man Utd 20/04 23:56 CET 9 Arsenal 20/04 23:55 CET 10 Liverpool 20/04 23:55 CET 11 Tottenham 20/04 23:55 CET 12 Man City 20/04 22:23
  13. Some newspaper's tweet. I don't know if it's true. Maybe it isn't. Sorry. I've looked again and can't find it anymore.
  14. To be honest, things aren't staying the same. A victory for UEFA means the new champions league system which is not great at all will take place in 2024. I think we're celebrating someone will spit in our meal because at least they won't shit on it.
  15. I'm terrible at every game, online or otherwise.
  16. I was so focused on the ESL part of Florentino Perez interview, I didn't bother with the rest of it. I went back to check what else he said, and apparently, a while after saying Real Madrid would be financially dead in 4 years as a result of COVID and its restrictions without the ESL, he actually said they're interested in signing Mbappe. You can't write this shit.

    The Punk Thread

I've heard the new album now. I had zero expectations, then started reading some very positive reviews from people who tend to be pretty negative about things and started believing it would be very good. I'm not a fan. I doubt I'll be listening to it much. I probably like it more than the last two but that's not saying much.
  18. " Real Madrid are in a very bad economic situation. Real Madrid, in two seasons, have lost more than 400 million euros — and that’s just Real Madrid!" I feel really sorry for them. Why can't someone just help them. "We had to adapt. The same thing happened in the 50’s, UEFA and FIFA were opposed to Bernabéu and the European Cup.” Lies. 1 - Bernabéu had nothing to do with the creation of the European Cup. He was part of several people who wanted something of the sort because South America already had a continental tournament. 2- There were european tournaments - mostly regional - beforehand, such as the Mitropa and Latin Cup or the Coupe des Nations. They weren't as successful financially but those were different times. Everyone seemed to be at war - or about to - with everyone else in the first half of the century. The 50s were the right time to start such a competition. The first time an actual formal proposal was raised, it was immediately approved. What's this opposition Florentino speaks of? “No one has interest in the Champions League until the quarter-finals." Doubt this is true for a lot of people, but definitely not true for the millions of people from poorer countries or even supporters of smaller clubs on big leagues who don't get the opportunity to see their teams playing against all of those rich clubs every year, and are happy enough any time they manage to beat the giants and getting to the knockout stages is reason enough to celebrate. “The television rights are what make us money. That money is for everyone. If those at the top have money, it goes to everyone because we buy players from those other clubs and we can be in solidarity.” I can't even... "We’re not UEFA’s property, they can’t govern us. UEFA’s monopoly is over, a new era is coming.” It's time for our monopoly! "Any team can enter. It will not be closed. We believe in what the clubs can offer so they will fight to play in the competition.” They will fight to play in the competition... We don't need to. It's our ball. Pass me the ball or I'll take it home and nobody else plays. “This Super League is not a competition for the rich, it’s a competition of solidarity to save football, by the great and the modest. " Stop it. You're making me cry. "We have problems even with our sponsors. Adidas and Emirates have had difficulties (financially), we also have to be in solidarity with them." Good to know there are more companies that need saving besides Real Madrid! Lemme do a quick check: "Adidas is the largest sportswear manufacturer in Europe, and the second largest in the world, just behind Nike, with nearly 20 billion euros in annual revenue and a brand value of approximately 16.5 billion U.S. dollars. " "Emirates Airlines flies to over 150 destinations across 6 continents, operating a fleet of over 250 wide-bodied aircraft. The airline has 170 aircraft on order worth US$58 billion." I totally get it now!! Thanks Florentino for changing my mind.
  19. Amazing how opinions can go from "This is horrible" to "It doesn't look so bad" in a matter of days.
  20. Let's not get ahead of ourselves. They're owned by Qatar. They're not going to go against FIFA right before the World Cup. They'd have been first in line otherwise, I believe.
