  3. It's a fun game, but wait until they have patched the game some more. Defenders are non-factors and either stand around with their dick in their hands, or ''close down'' on attackers by running past them and giving them an open hole.

Also, the AI is ridiculously effective from set pieces it isn't even funny.

  5. That co-main event was a big bummer, but seeing that nasty cut it was the right call to make.

That KO kick from Lyoto Machida was insane, and the way it all happened made the ending very very weird. I was looking at my other screen, I heard the kick and was shocked to realise the fight was already over. I never want to get kicked by him, ever...

A final musing, if Sakara isn't going to get cut by Dana after a loss to a local talent, then I don't know what. He has lost more than he has won in the UFC...

  7. I watched an LP of the game. And from what I have seen I must agree with your opinions.

It feels a lot less interactive then Heavy Rain, because in that game you could seriously mess shit up by having your kid die or one of the main characters die...
This game looks and seems to feel a lot more on-rails about it all, and none of the choices you make seem to have any effect on the story at hand. It's mostly just doing stuff to further the story, nothing more.

It's mostly just David Cage's vision you are playing. And whilst it's a beautiful game with some amazing graphics and a strong story to boot... it falls flat as a ''game'' and I for one wouldn't pay 60 bucks for it.

It looks phenomenal for the experience alone, but unlike Heavy Rain where there are like 40 something endings, this one is very light on all of that.

  8. We are going to play this together tonight. Are there a lot of good choices? Because he is playing and I am making the choices

The choices are less impactful than it was in TWD, since that game was pretty much life and death every time and you would often be picking who would live and die.

In this it's more procedural differences, and in one of the choices - where you must pick who to help first - it has a significant impact on the rest of the story it looks like.

And from what I have experienced, the way you talk to people - like in TWD - will really make a difference between how they regard you... You know, with people regarding Bigsby as the monster he used to be...

  9. So, time to start speculating on the whodunit vibe of the story.

Big ass story spoilers, don't read if you don't want to be spoiled... Srsly.

The first playthrough I did I was thinking that it was Bluebeard, with him decapatating women and such in the past.
But it really feels too easy of an answer, and even if he was Bigsby would probably be murdered by eternal red tape to even get to him, being all snuggly wuggly with the goverment and such.

From what I think after my 2nd run, I don't think it's any of the guys in play. The Tweedle's are just two-bit thugs who probably do the bidding of the actual killer. And even though Woodsman is a scumbag, I am hard pressed to see him as a killer.

The husband didn't do it for certain, because he is too emo'd up anyways and more interested in killing himself instead of Faith.

And The Pimp, we haven't met him yet but it would be weird that the Pimp would be the brains behind it. Maybe he knows the bad guy, and we will probably rough the shit out of that scumbag pimp anyways... But the killer, nah.

So I think that it's probably going to be someone else entirely instead that we will find out about in later episodes.

Also, who ripped off Grenn's arm? I didn't do it in either playthrough because I felt bad for the guys because I understood their hate for the goverment who only care about the big people.

And also for the reasons I told above, I went for Tweedle instead of Woodsman at the end, but I am sure TellTale will throw a curveball at me in Episode 2 that somehow makes it a bad choice.

Also, the ending part was probably the most gut wrenching finale to a game since... Probably TWD. When I saw the cops and saw him walk up to the group my stomach was churning because deep inside I knew Snow was the next victim... But it was still a big bombshell when I saw her head lying there and the screen just faded to black.

I really felt that Snow was invulernable, with the whole semi-romance thing between Bigsby and her going on. But they of course kicked me in the teeth and killed her off to end the episode on a big shock.

Jesus, I want Episode 2 like 10 minutes ago.

  10. So Telltale has released another 5 episode game.

This time it's ''The Wolf Among Us''.

I got myself the game and bought the entire season, and having played the first episode (twice), it's really another gem from TellTale.

I never heard of the comic series it's based of (Fables), but from what I have experienced in episode 1 it's a really interesting world with a lot of colourful characters, but at the same time it being a very dark setting and not your average ''happily ever after'' stuff either.

I found myself being engrossed in characters who I have never seen before almost right off the bat. Even though everyone are fairytale characters and some aren't human (Beast, Bigby, Mr. Toad etc.) They all have very human emotions and very strong voice actors who bring the characters to life pretty much from the first sentence they get. I found myself gutwrenched when stuff happened to them, even though they had hardly done anything of note.

Once more it's based on the TellTale shaded engine as used in all their games including TWD:S1. But compared to that game this is a lot more colourful and it really looks and feels like they improved upon the engine a lot more in between the development of TWD and this game. And even though it's very much a fairytale game, it draws heavily from the noir genre with lots of dark tones interspersed with bright colours. It makes for a very unique look from the get go, and it's one of the big keys that drew me into the game - Even though I am not much of a fairytale kind of person.

But as I said, this game is yet another gem created by TellTale and the way they write character interaction is arguably one of the best in the entire industry. And this game paints a fairytale enviroment in a very very dark place with very grown up problems and stories. And regardless if you like fairytales or not, if you like adventure games/telltale games or a good story, this is really a game for you.

I bought the games with little expectations and I got blown away with it, and I already feel my 20 bucks are very well spend.

If you got the game too, I would love to discuss this game with the rest of you :)

A little synopsis (Of the game AND comic series) for whoever might be interested.

    General Synopsis:

The series deals with various characters from fairy tales and folklore – referring to themselves as "Fables" – who have been forced out of their Homelands by "The Adversary" who has conquered the realm. The Fables have traveled to our world and formed a clandestine community in New York City known as Fabletown. Fables who do not have a human appearance have the possibility of having their appearances shrouded to look Human if they buy a ''Glamour'' that makes them look like humans. Fables who are unable to blend in with human society (such as monsters and anthropomorphic animals) or cannot afford a ''Glamour'' live at "the Farm" in upstate New York.

Unlike their fairytale existence the life in their new community is less than great as many Fables deal with poverty, social dissonance and other emotional and personal problems that come with living in this new world. Where the fabletown goverment tends to be politically inclined to only help well-endowed Fables, the other Fables tend to become dregs and live in poverty whilst their pleas tend to be unanswered by the Fabletown goverment.

In the comics and in the game the main character is ''Bigsby Wolf'', formerly known as The Big Bad Wolf himself, who is the sheriff of Fabletown. Tasked in ensuring the peace in the community he stands between the goverment and the rest of the fabletown residents having to dance to the whims of the goverment, and also try to mediate between the Fables pushed into the lower social strata. All the while he is still looked down upon by everyone for formerly being a ruthless monster, regardless of him having changed his ways and bettered himself.

Story Synopsis: (Contains some early game spoilers)

On what seems to be a normal night in Fabletown, Sheriff Bigsby is called to a disturbance at a cheap tenement building. Inside he finds a female fable being physically abused by a male fable, and after a fight he manages to subdue the male fable using heavy force. The female fable who apparently is a working girl walks away safe and sound, but the next day she is found gruesomely murdered in front of Bigsby's building. Bigsby is then thrust into solving the murder of the girl. With their not being a murder in many years he needs to find the killer and make sure he is stopped before anymore Fables end up murdered. Because the murders aren't just a huge shock to the community, it also threatens the fine balance of anonimity the Fables are trying to uphold to the normal Humans who are unaware with their presence. So with a murdered on the lose Bigsby must find him, all the while having his own job threatened due to his history of violence and brutality.

  11. I too had the fight 48-47 for Gussy, especially since he pretty much disabled any of Bones' offense in the first three rounds, and the tables only seemed to turn when he got walloped with that big elbow in the 4th and he survived the final rounds as Jones picked up more steam. But as a whole I felt that Gussy had much more fire in him and did a lot more in trying to beat Jones in the first three rounds and the only real action that Jones got off was his leg kicks.

Even if you look at the damage, Jones got fucked up big time by Gus' amazing striking and Jones couldn't get him down for the majority of the fight, and even then he was a non factor on the ground.

But I can accept the champ winning because as others said, the 2nd round was too close for comfort for either of them.

Quite frankly the best MMA fight I have seen, ranks among my personal top 5 without a doubt. It was a complete war and both of them deserved a win, and I honestly feel Gus will be back in a title match sooner rather than later, and he will only become better from this fight. Gus/Jones could easily end up becoming this era's Randy/Chuck rivalry.

But I rather see Grover get his shot at Jones first and give Gus a chance to get back on his feet against other people. A fight against Rashad would be interesting, and a rematch against Wonderful would no doubt sell a PPV. And finally, I would also still like to see Gus fight Mousasi, and hopefully beat the living piss out of him.

EDIT: And Khabib is a motherfucking beast.

  12. I played some, I find the gameplay tricky but fun in a way and everything feels weighty. You can't spam the through ball or just run up a wing every time out, that's good things...

But then you have goalies who are the drizzling shits and the lack of everything in terms of licenses, stadiums, faces and whatnot and I am happy I have downloaded this game instead of paying top money for this... Konami needs to get their shit together, because this is just a half-finished product through and through.

  13. I have so much stuff that I absolutely hate, I am sure I could rant up a good post.

    First one...

On-Disc/Day-1 DLC: For one I hate DLC to begin with, because I come from the ''ye olde days'' where you got everything that was advertised on the tin and that cool sword/gun/car/character/hamburger was actually available to you without having to drop another buck to be able to play it. Real ''updates'' where few and far between, and sometimes the dev felt bored enough to give you one or two maps for free, out of the kindness of their hearts. And for the rest, we relied on modders to create their own maps.

At one point in the last decade some ''genius'' thought they could strip shit out of the finished product and pay it to people for an added price, and well... I fucking hate it with a passion. And there are but a few devs left that don't go with scammy-DLC schemes as a part of their business plan.

And sure, I bought Undead Nightmare and well... I loved it through and through, and it's one of the few DLC things that you really get something out of. But when I see 9/10 other companies run around selling me additional guns, characters and whatnot, something that gives me nothing in terms of actual story or a real added gameplay feature, then I completely switch off and more often than not, I simply pirate the shit out of the DLC.

And for the DLC that actually strips something VERY story related out of the game, well that is even worse because it directly affects your gameplay.

    Oversimplification..

I understand that devs need to make their money somewhere, and to have your game be available for the biggest possible demographic is THE way to have a popular game very fast. Slap a known franchise name to the game and well, you got the potential for fat-loot all around.

Plenty of examples out there too, ranging from Dragon Age and Mass Effect to Splinter Cell and Fable. Every popular brandname videogame tends to be thrown into that wringer bar maybe a few games that live on a really die-hard fanbase (Civ).

And well, I don't like it for all the obvious reasons. It turns an otherwise good series with an interesting premise into one that just isn't the same as it's predecessor. And whilst Mass Effect still has a glorious story (with a crap ending) and the gameplay is slicker than ever, it just misses... ''something''.

An easier example is Splinter Cell, the first 3-4 games of the series was all about stealth action, getting in and out of a map without anyone ever knowing you where there, that was the fucking bomb right there and it gave you all the tools at disposal and actively encouraged you to do it... Then came Conviction, and suddenly most of the stealth is thrown out of the window to give you a ''sleeker and actionpacked'' experience. So basically you are forced to gun down enemies or at best punch their brains in to get to your target.

Luckily with the newest game Blacklist they decided to bring the best of both worlds, but my frustration at times makes it obvious that the game still actively promotes you to go ''Jason Bourne'' instead of ''Sam Fisher'' on a lot of missions...

And the original Splinter Cell wasn't even THAT hard to begin with, you only had to crouch past people and get to places by using vents, pipes and other conveniently placed obstacles. There wasn't a goofy XP system, and you didn't have to level up your characters or upgrade your guns, all that mattered was finishing the mission, as silently as possible...

    Brain-dead collectible hunting:

Other people have told this in this thread, so I will be as quick about it as possible. I don't mind collectible hunting, but the devs have gone absolutely bonkers with the whole concept of it. Littering the world with thousands of collectibles that may or may not have an effect on your game. And whilst it's a thing of the ages with almost every game known to man having them. They don't exactly envoke bliss in me when I want to complete a game 100% and I need to grind away 3-4 more hours just to get those collectibles. It's a cheap trick to add ''replayability'' to a game, and if it wasn't in a game I wouldn't miss it one bit.

    Fucking Sewer Levels:

Do I even need to explain this one?

    Microtransactions:

    Best, thing, ever!

I don't want to pay for fucking throwaway DLC, let alone pay a few bucks just to get a (throwaway) quest over with. And I also don't want to pay a couple of bucks just to have that awesome blaster rifle that makes me better than every other player in the server. It's a cheap and disgusting cash grab, and there are always people stupid enough to drop their cash on that shit, making it a ''viable'' option for developers.

It's a system that killed Facebook games and it mires you in crap just long enough that you go ''I want this shit over with, I am gonna drop a buck''. And before you know it, you have done it 60 times already. And of course, the farther you get in the game the slower and more mired the gameplay becomes, almost forcing you to drop cash each and every time they give you a ridiculous task you must complete for that lovely puke-green garden chair!

You need to be connected to play this single-player game!
Oh boy, this one has become a thing really fast and it's one of the worst things in gaming right now, even higher than the DLC thing for me.
So I want to play that nice Singleplayer game, with no online capabilities... Well fuck me, I can't play because I need to be logged into Steam/Uplay/Origin to play this glorious game!

So what if I go on holiday and I want to play some games in my hotel room, I will probably have to stick with Patience for the coming 3 weeks because Electronic Arts wants me to be online 24/7 just to Simcity or whateverthefuck.

What if I live in an area with intermittent network loss, well that's not their problem and my 60 dollar/euro/pound game is useless for most of the time, and don't even think about saving your progress because the moment the connection drops, I am fucked in the asshole.

When it's Battlefield 3, Call of Duty: 52 or another game that revolves around online play and is truly built as an online game, sure I understand being connected to play online (Makes sense, non?). But when I play a game that doesn't even have online capabilities or some real throwaway stuff that doesn't/hardly affects offline gameplay, then it gets on my fucking nerves. If I want to play ETW/Diablo3/Simcity etc. offline, they should allow me to play it offline.

But it's totally to stop pirates from pirating the game right? No it doesn't, 2 days post-release there is a crack on the internet and all the pirates are merrilly playing the game offline whilst I am still fucking around with idiotic tacked-on always-on DRM.

And that gift just keeps on giving, because with the Xbox One being the newest step in that process we can be sure that the future is bright for Always-On DRM. At least there is one company that at least minimally thinks about it's demographic, but I am sure the PS4 will have some shit under the surface that will get us all riled up nice and good again.

I can conjure up more ranting, but I am going to leave it at this ragefest.
