  1. I also took Undertaker out. Sheamus was drafted to Smackdown and immediately engaged in a feud with the Undertaker. First he took Taker's belt, then the next PPV he put him out of commission with a Celtic Cross through a table and then I put a garbage can over Taker's head and gave him the Brogue Kick. I suggest everybody does this atleast once with Sheamus (the brogue kick with garbage can on the head combination) as it makes for a very cool visual.

And I've been meaning to ask you guys, do you use auto or manual targeting? Typically I've always used manual targeting but I can't figure out which button I am supposed to hit to make the wrestler switch his attention. If I am hitting the right button then it's damn well not working for me.

I had the same problem with targetting, so I keep it on auto. But I really hate auto, because it makes me attack the wrong person all the time.

  2. It's kind of irritating when I'm in a match in Universe and someone runs down to distract the referee, and they distract the ref EVERY SINGLE TIME I got for a pin. I've had matches where I've held my opponent down in a pin for 4-5 minutes before the ref kicks the person out and counts the fall.

  3. I've also unlocked Kozlov and Ryder... Ryder was especially fun, Vince sent him out to fight Evan Bourne on Superstars after a shocking victory over Sheamus, who is also the #1 contender for the WWE Title. So you know what that means?

Zack Ryder is mixing it up with a guy who fought the guy that's the #1 Contender! Zack Ryder = Future WWE Champion!

I haven't unlocked Ryder yet. I want to. Just because I love his music.

  4. kbusch, is your version the PS3 one? Because I'm not seeing Fan Axxess in the PSN store yet.

Still creating my CAW and his manager, really getting immersed into the customization features. Haven't even played a single match yet, but really looking forward to it :)

I'm having the same issue with Fan Axxess. Glad I'm not the only one.

Just had a US title match at Backlash as Miz against Primo and R-Truth. Primo won by rolling me up, but it was a blast. Normal difficulty was way too easy, but it got fun when I put it on hard.

  5. What would be cool, though not sure if it's feasible is to implement Story Designer with WWE Universe. You could download as many stories as you want, assign the ones you want to WWE Universe and the stories would trigger naturally when you approach the time of the year they're set in. Obviously it'd be tricky, but not entirely out of the realm of possibility and eliminate the canned storyline worry.

If they won't even let us change participants in pre-booked matches with stipulations, I doubt they'd be able to pull that off.

  6. It's our game though. If we want Archer as WWE champ, there should be no reason as to why we can't have him as champ. At the very least, there should be a switch to turn ranking off.

Exactly. It's MY game, I paid $60 for it. If I want Santino and Primo to immediately be the WWE and World Heavyweight Champions while Randy Orton and Triple H feud over the Hardcore Title, I should be able to do that. It probably won't be a HUGE deal to me since I like to play as realistically as possible, but it's more needless, stupid restrictions in a franchise that has always been plagued by needless, stupid restrictions.

Do we actually own the game, or is THQ going the same route as other companies where you don't own shit and just pay $60 for a "license" to play their game?

Seriously, though, this is retarded for every reason Zero has mentioned. I can just imagine THQ designers sitting around going, "I've got it! We put in this WWE Universe mode, but we don't let the player have title matches except on PPVs, and we make the game take stipulations out of a match if the player changes the participants. Then, we fix both of those in 2012, so everyone that bought 2011 and wanted those fixes will buy the new one too!"

  7. My friend and I played the heck out of gm mode in 2007. Tons of fun, but we spent a lot of our time making guys like The Boogeyman and Chavo Guerrero our world champs

GM Mode was very fun for two player games. When it first came out, a friend and I played it for hours, talking massive amounts of shit to each other, and at one point having a "McMahon-off" where we strutted around my room yelling "I'm Vince McMahon damnit!"

    Ah, memories.

  8. ...Road to WrestleMania has never let you pick whoever you wanted to play as, as far as I can remember.

The last couple of Smackdowns I actually bought let you pick whoever you wanted, because the story mode in them was pretty much just random storylines thrown together. I *think* the last one I bought was on PS2 though. >_>

Yeah, you haven't bought one in awhile then, Road to WrestleMania has always been character-specific stories.

Well, then the earliest point he could've last bought one was SvR08, which didn't have RtWM, but instead, the weird combo Season/GM Mode mode. <_<

Might've been 07 then. I do remember having GM mode, and thinking it sort of resembled EWR for marks.

I honestly don't know how anyone could complain about not being able to pick someone for RTWM when career mode sounds like HCTPs career mode x100000000000000000000.

WWE Universe has me very excited. It's a big reason why I'm going to buy this one. I don't think I ever played HCTP, though, except for an hour or two with a friend when he bought it.

  10. The flipside to that freedom is Road to WrestleMania. On the surface, WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2011's Road looks like that of the past -- you choose one of five tales and play through the weeks leading up to that Superstar's appearance on the grandest stage of all in between watching a bunch of cutscenes.

    There's only 5 RTWM's?

EDIT: after reading that IGN review, I'm a little bummed and confused about the lack of a strong grapple.

Well, there are five stories - Jericho, Christian, Rey, Cena, and vs. Undertaker. Vs. Undertaker, however, puts you in the shoes of either Morrison, R-Truth, Kofi, Ziggler, or a CAW.

...So you can't do RTWM with anyone like in past games(I haven't bought a Smackdown game in several years)?

  12. Wow, going back to the WMX8 character select screen, which is actually pretty awesome.

Mike Knox in the game, huh. Looks like I'm bringing back my storyline where he gets revenge on Evan Bourne for trying to injure his beard.

    Best. Storyline. Ever

Second best. Best was my unfinished storyline where Ted DiBiase attempts to take over the WWE with his army of Undertaker cyborgs. And has a tuxedo that inexplicably changes color between scenes.

    I'd play it.

  13. I picked up Resistance: Fall of Man when I got my PS3 for like $20. Awesome game.

Also managed to nab MW2 for PS3 for $35 used at Gamestop. It isn't quite "bargain bin," but I found it the day the price dropped and I damn sure wasn't going to pay a full $60 for it. I'm glad for that, too, because that campaign wasn't worth $60.

UFC 2010 is also $30 used at Gamestop. Again, not quite bargain bin, but still a good price.
