  1. I also read that a first round defeat for Raducanu could see her drop outside the top 80 players in the world, with a second round loss likely to take her out of the top 50. As she went through qualifying last year, she'll drop places even if she wins the tournament.
  2. Immortality releases today, and it's on Game Pass. It's an FMV game by Sam Barlow, who also made Her Story and Telling Lies. Essentially, you have to look through found footage clips to solve a mystery. Those other games were very good, so this should be worth a go.
  3. Murray looked quite good in his first round victory. The problem he's had since his return has been having his body hold up to string wins together in tournaments. It's meant that he's not been able to reach a seeded ranking, so he's the absolute worst first round opponent for any players who are seeded. It was good to see Harriet Dart and Jack Draper winning as well. I think there's a fair chance that Raducanu might lose her match because she has a tough draw, so having a few British players in the second round is welcome. In non-British player news, Serena Williams won, while Tsitsipas and Halep lost. Venus plays tomorrow, with the sisters joining together in the doubles tournament later in the week.
  4. You can accelerate the sessions by up to 16x speed, which can help save a lot of time.
  5. That's fair enough. I was probably missing the point a little.
  6. I definitely could have seen some Liverpool fans pushing for Gerrard if Klopp left. There's always a section of fans who romanticise the idea of seeing club legends return as managers. I remember a fair few Man United fans being enthusiastic about Solskjaer, whose only previous experience in the English league had been a sub-standard spell at Cardiff.
  7. Where could he go next? I read that he was making £200,000 a week at Chelsea.
  8. Based on recommendations and having some digital credit left over, I decided to pick this up. I chose to play as Alpine and got sacked. I decided to put loads of research into the following year's car, which turned out to be a mistake as the board felt a sixth-place finish wasn't good enough. Next time, I'll see how things turn out if I plan more for the short-term future, rather than the next season. Other lessons learned the hard way included ensuring that there's a healthy stock of components for when Vettel drives into your car and writes it off completely and not simulating practice sessions so that you can get a better setup than the AI would otherwise provide you with.
  9. I have a fondness for Brereton from his time at Forest.
  10. Verstappen and Leclerc will start at the back of the grid. That makes me more interested in watching.
  11. I think those two horrible companies are made for each other. Update: CNBC reckons it isn't happening.
  12. I never would have believed back then that Roddick would only end up with one Grand Slam. It shows how strong the emerging players at the time became.
  13. The BBC is bringing back Gladiators. I hope it's better than the rubbish Sky reboot.
  14. I think you're right. A quick look on eBay shows me that people are still willing to pay over the standard retail price for them, so the biggest impact this will have in the near future is that scalpers end up charging a little more.
  15. The US Open draw has been made. I just found out that this is the first time in nineteen years that the men's top seed at a Grand Slam has been anyone other than Federer, Nadal, Djokovic or Murray.
  16. At last, early adopters of a console have been vindicated.
  17. I've read that you can't shorten race lengths or even save in the middle of a race, which sounds a bit annoying. Playing through a whole season will take a long time. That will be a good thing for those who like to manage everything in great depth, but I can see it putting a lot of other people off. Not being able to change teams or create your own is a bit of a baffling omission as well. Presumably, then, if you get sacked, it's game over.
  18. Microsoft pays developers to put the games on Game Pass, but the exact model differs from studio to studio. In some cases, they'll get a lump sum, whereas there are some instances of Microsoft agreeing to pay the full production costs and the developers selling the game on other platforms as well. Some deals involve bonuses being provided based on the number of downloads a game gets. Quite a few developers have said that they've made good money out of the increased attention their games get through Game Pass. Certainly, if streamers play games they've got on Game Pass, viewers tend to be more likely to pick them up on other platforms. At the moment, it seems that there's a happy medium between games that are on subscription services and those that aren't. The fear would be that the entire industry eventually adopts a subscription model and developers are forced into accepting the Spotify model of payment while the big publishers scoop up all the cash.
  19. Geoff Keighley will let Kojima on his shows to promote literally anything.
  20. "Souls-like Pinocchio game" isn't something I had on my prediction list.
  21. This is starting soon. I can't say I'd expect it to be especially good, but there are apparently going to be over thirty games shown.
  22. The previews a few weeks ago generally stated that it felt like a game that would have come out ten years ago, so I'm not surprised. It's quite surprising how little hype there is behind it.
  23. I'd also recommend watching an introductory video that explains the lore. There are several good ones on Youtube.
