  1. I thought Russia v Saudi Arabia was an underwhelming World Cup opening match, but Qatar v Ecuador is on another level.
  2. I'd find it terribly dull if France were to win again anyway.
  3. Frustrating 0-0 draw for Notts today, but over 16,500 people came to Meadow Lane in what is a new National League record attendance.
  4. With Italy beating Australia recently, it's good news for the European sides that don't play in the Six Nations. Having more nations transition from whipping boys to teams worth respecting is a good thing.
  5. I think you can watch the matches on terrestrial television while still opposing the human rights offences. The last three World Cups were in Russia, Brazil and South Africa, all of which were particularly appalling choices. I certainly wouldn't buy official merchandise or anything like that, though. Whatever the case, I'm hoping that enough noise will be made to at least bring the problems to greater public attention. That's something that hasn't really happened on a big scale in the past when it should have done.
  6. As with the previews, almost all the reviews for Scarlet and Violet mention that the game's technical performance is poor. The frame rate chugs a lot, apparently. However, it seems that there are plenty of good ideas in the game itself. Stuttering issues will matter less in a turn-based game like Pokemon than in games that use real-time battles.
  7. If fans are going to get hammered and act like tossers, you might as well make plenty of money out of it.
  8. It's nice to see Pentiment reviewing so well. I'm looking forward to trying it tomorrow.
  9. Adam West is my Batman, but Kevin Conroy was the next best for me. He was the mixture of stoic and caring that a lot of other Batman versions lacked.
  10. Given their recent form, I wouldn't totally rule out a group stage exit. USA ought to fancy their chances of at least a draw, and Wales will be very up for taking them down. If the usual cagey start to tournaments is apparent, they could drop points against Iran as well.
  11. Spurs, Arsenal, Chelsea, Crystal Palace and West Ham are all out. Bad day for Premier League London clubs.
  12. Sports Story comes out next month.
  13. It seems from the BBC article that he only thinks it was a mistake because the country is too small. I can't see any mention on his part of all the human rights issues.
  14. All these videos seem to be designed to make me feel embarrassed to like this series of games.
  15. I did a Google search and it seems that this can happen when "HDMI Link" is turned on in the settings.
  16. Argentina picked up wins against Australia and New Zealand a few months ago. They're certainly not pushovers.
  17. I've had a quick look at the other Hitler-themed games that are somehow approved for sale on Steam. The product description for Adolf Hitler Humiliation Simulator is intriguing. Your character even has a body.
  18. It was quite a surprising result. How much of it was down to Grimsby playing well and how much to Plymouth playing poorly?
  19. I think the Hitman reboots really nailed the wacky sandbox formula that the old games set up. There's so much content and replay value. Word of advice: play all the levels from within Hitman 3. It will give you access to everything from the first two games, but with all the updated features.
  20. You could find out the model number of your television and look it up. Generally speaking, it's only the top range televisions from the last two or three years that support HDMI 2.1.
  21. The bottom two options will only work if your television supports HDMI 2.1. If not, I'd go for the top one.
  22. The most recent sales figures put it at 5 million, but that was back in December 2019. Even if those numbers have doubled since then (which I doubt), that's still under 10% of the number of PS4 consoles that have been sold. From the little I tried, I thought it was interesting, although the use of the nearly decade-old Playstation Move controllers for some games was a big drawback. A lot of people felt that it worked best with games that used the standard PS4 controllers, such as Moss, Resident Evil 7 and Astro Bot Rescue Mission. I never got enough time with the system to finish it, but Astro Bot was particularly impressive. Because of cost, comfort and the lack of interactivity with other people in the same room, VR still only has a niche audience. The Meta Quest 2 is a step in the right direction in terms of design, although the mandatory Facebook integration it used to have understandably put a lot of people off. I think it might serve manufacturers better in the long run if they spend the next few years focusing on how to make the headsets lighter and more comfortable than more graphically powerful.
