  1. Forest are out of the bottom three with that win. Southampton really seem to be in a lot of trouble.
  2. My feelings were quite similar to this. I understand that the stories the characters tell offer some extra details about their backstories and personalities, but the format meant that it was very hit-and-miss. The overarching story was mostly predictable, I thought, and while that isn't a problem in and of itself, the twists were particularly obviously telegraphed. Episode 7 was the high point of the series, in my opinion. I'm a bit fed up of the "rude and insulting character is actually quite nice really" trope, but that narrative arc was well done.
  3. Our Flag Means Death is finally available to watch in the UK. It's on BBC iPlayer.
  4. It's also worth noting that very few games actually make full use of the haptic feedback features yet anyway.
  5. It's free now, so no purchase will be necessary.
  6. I imagine so. I'd expect to see release dates for STALKER 2 and the Goldeneye remaster as well. Starfield may be a 50:50 chance.
  7. Forest's next four league matches are against Southampton, Leicester, Bournemouth and Leeds. I think they'll need to win at least a couple of those to have a realistic chance of staying up.
  8. I've had a quick look and found that it still worked as of November 2022. I haven't heard that it's changed. In Xbox news, noted industry insider Jeff Grubb reckons a big showcase will take place at the end of January or beginning of February. It would make sense as an event to detail games coming in the first half of the year, with E3 then showing off whatever is coming after that.
  9. We Will All Go Together When We Go by Tom Lehrer has some great rhyming couplets, such as: "You may have thought it tragic, not to mention other adjec- tives to think of all the weeping they will do" "Just sing out a te deum when you see that ICBM" "There will be no more misery when the world is our rotisserie" It's also an oddly nice sentiment in the face of nuclear war. If we all die at the same time, nobody will be left to grieve.
  10. They're nowhere near as difficult to learn as Paradox grand strategy games. The in-game tutorials are quite good too, so I wouldn't worry about getting to grips with the basics.
  11. I'm still surprised we haven't seen Game of Thrones: Total War. That seems like such an ideal partnership.
  12. I tend to steer clear of comparisons between players from different generations, but Pele was arguably the first global star in the television era. His influence on the game is almost unrivalled.
  13. I'm reading that Norwich have approached Steve Bruce to be Smith's replacement. Now that's a way to cheer fans up.
  14. And this is the biggest hurdle for me.
  15. They had won three out of the last thirteen league matches, with three defeats in the last four. He was particularly unpopular among the fans as well, so it's not as surprising as you might think.
  16. And there have been only ten times that a player has reached thirty goals in a Premier League season.
  17. That's the sad reality of the direction many games are going in. Companies are making record profits and still finding ways to inflate the price of game content. We're at the point now where many publishers have increased the price of new games to £70, and that's often just the starting cost. Factor in paywalled cosmetics, DLC and season passes and you're looking at a big money sink if you want to access content that would have been included in the base package not that long ago. Contrast that with a good number of games made by small studios or single developers that offer free updates for years after release. If Stardew Valley had been published by a big company, you just know that all the extra features would have been part of a monetised "road map".
  18. All of a sudden, Sports Story has been released.
  19. Nottingham Forest haven't had a shirt sponsor so far this season, and that's going to continue. Instead of a blank shirt, however, they will use the UNHCR logo for the rest of the season.
  20. I think the Mass Effect games were never "best in class" when it came to combat. At best, they were solid, but not special. The main appeal for me was always making decisions and learning about the world and squad members.
  21. The Steam Holiday Sale starts tomorrow. Make sure you hold off on buying anything until then.
  22. Beth Mead is the overwhelming betting favourite. Being the first female footballer to win would be significant. I'm surprised there isn't a para-athlete in there, although I can't think of who might have made it in this year.
  23. I see the Sports Personality of the Year shortlist has been revealed. Presumably, this year's thread will be created in due course.
