  1. That jumped out at me as well. We're always hearing about how many times certain mobile games have been downloaded. Presumably, it's because the mobile market is dominated by free-to-play games that aren't "bought", but make ridiculous money on in-app purchases.
  2. Frontier share prices have dropped 40%, with the studio blaming it on disappointing F1 Manager 2022 sales. It makes me wonder if they're going to pull the plug on the series now.
  3. I definitely think that PC game sales have influenced that figure significantly. I imagine the rise of subscription services, such as Game Pass and Playstation Plus, has been a contributing factor as well. The inevitable all-digital future concerns me a little, primarily in terms of game prices. I saw Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart in ASDA for £15, whereas the Playstation Store typically sells it for £70. Really, for the amount you'd save on a digital PS5, you'd inevitably end up spending a lot more on the games themselves.
  4. Now could be a good time. They've just merged the games together, so if you buy Hitman 3, you now get all the levels from the first two games as well. They apparently run well on Steam Deck.
  5. For me, his most memorable performance was when he scored that hat-trick against Inter at the San Siro. He was a one-man army that night.
  6. It seems that international management is a less appealing career move than it used to be. Generally, the very best managers aren't prepared to leave a well paid club position to risk their reputations in a field that hinges on a small number of key matches. I'm sure the Portuguese FA approached the likes of Mourinho, Ferreira, Fonseca and Conceicao before settling on Martinez.
  7. Alcaraz will miss the Australian Open through injury. It looks as though Raducanu might too.
  8. Apparently, some Man United fans were aiming homophobic chants at Frank Lampard.
  9. I remember all the hype when he joined Chelsea in 1996. It seemed incredible that two members of Juventus' Champions League-winning starting lineup were going to join the Premier League teams that had just finished 11th and 12th respectively.
  10. Three Houses is a very tough act to follow for me. I'd be happy enough with a fun strategy game, but having characters I care about is what makes Fire Emblem really tick.
  11. I only listened to the Southampton v Forest match, but Southampton just didn't sound as though they were offering anything. They have a great set-piece taker, but little attacking threat beyond that. That they were outplayed by a Forest side that, while gradually improving, still has the worst away record and worst defensive record, is a big warning sign.
  12. Forest are out of the bottom three with that win. Southampton really seem to be in a lot of trouble.
  13. My feelings were quite similar to this. I understand that the stories the characters tell offer some extra details about their backstories and personalities, but the format meant that it was very hit-and-miss. The overarching story was mostly predictable, I thought, and while that isn't a problem in and of itself, the twists were particularly obviously telegraphed. Episode 7 was the high point of the series, in my opinion. I'm a bit fed up of the "rude and insulting character is actually quite nice really" trope, but that narrative arc was well done.
  14. Our Flag Means Death is finally available to watch in the UK. It's on BBC iPlayer.
  15. It's also worth noting that very few games actually make full use of the haptic feedback features yet anyway.
  16. It's free now, so no purchase will be necessary.
  17. I imagine so. I'd expect to see release dates for STALKER 2 and the Goldeneye remaster as well. Starfield may be a 50:50 chance.
  18. Forest's next four league matches are against Southampton, Leicester, Bournemouth and Leeds. I think they'll need to win at least a couple of those to have a realistic chance of staying up.
  19. I've had a quick look and found that it still worked as of November 2022. I haven't heard that it's changed. In Xbox news, noted industry insider Jeff Grubb reckons a big showcase will take place at the end of January or beginning of February. It would make sense as an event to detail games coming in the first half of the year, with E3 then showing off whatever is coming after that.
  20. We Will All Go Together When We Go by Tom Lehrer has some great rhyming couplets, such as: "You may have thought it tragic, not to mention other adjec- tives to think of all the weeping they will do" "Just sing out a te deum when you see that ICBM" "There will be no more misery when the world is our rotisserie" It's also an oddly nice sentiment in the face of nuclear war. If we all die at the same time, nobody will be left to grieve.
  21. They're nowhere near as difficult to learn as Paradox grand strategy games. The in-game tutorials are quite good too, so I wouldn't worry about getting to grips with the basics.
  22. I'm still surprised we haven't seen Game of Thrones: Total War. That seems like such an ideal partnership.
  23. I tend to steer clear of comparisons between players from different generations, but Pele was arguably the first global star in the television era. His influence on the game is almost unrivalled.
