  1. I really hope that they implement Red Dead Redemption's checkpoint system into this new game. I've had great fun with GTA over the years, but its most frustrating aspect has always been the whole "drive across city to receive mission briefing; watch cutscene in which said debriefing is given; repeat entire process once you fail the mission" rigmarole. It always broke the flow of the game for me and was the main reason that I found it difficult to engage with the storylines.
  2. Terrible news. I'm not a huge MotoGP fan, but I dip into it from time to time, so I was familiar with Simoncelli. Such a horrible thing to happen at any time, but especially after Wheldon's accident last weekend.
  3. Under the "Steam" option in the top-left corner of the Steam client, there should be a "Go Offline" option.
  4. Further details on multiplayer mode Basically, the co-op missions won't feature any established characters and instead allow you to play as a variety of different species. Although the co-op mode will affect the progression of the single-player storyline, it's said by Bioware to be "optional" and not essential for the full completion of the story.

  6. McClaren staying on for the sake of millions of pounds in compensation as a result of being sacked? Sounds awfully familiar.
  7. True, and I could definitely envisage him going elsewhere before too long. If Harry Redknapp ends up becoming England boss at the end of the season, as has been so widely speculated, I'm sure Poyet would be near the top of Tottenham's list of potential replacements.
  8. I think you're talking about one of the Christmas specials, which was called "Black Canary".
  9. Whether he gets sacked soon or not, it's definitely not doing McClaren's reputation any favours, especially in England, where he was hardly the most popular of figures anyway. Interesting point on his lack of ability as a disciplinarian as well. A lot of people seemed to view his as a decent cultivator of youth during his time as assistant manager at Man United, but he has never seemed nearly as capable as being the man in charge. Perhaps it was the same situation when he was England's assistant manager under Sven, a time at which there seemed to be more harmony within the team than there was when he took over as coach. Maybe he's just a guy who's better suited to a role as a coach or assistant manager than as the main man at the helm of a club or nation. I know he did a good job at Twente, but that was only for one season and, despite winning the League Cup with Middlesbrough, they seemed to be in a worrying state of decline before McClaren left to manage England. With all that said, though, it'd be hard to envisage any major teams wanting to take him on in a non-management role, and the smaller clubs probably couldn't justify his probable wage demands for a similar position. Assuming things don't turn around quickly at Forest, this could end up being his last job in English football. As for Forest, I wonder how well Sean O'Driscoll would fare as manager. It wasn't long ago that he was considered one of the best young managers in the English league, and he's certainly demonstrated an ability to work on a small budget. Now that he's been sacked by Doncaster, I think that Forest could do much worse than giving him a look.
  10. Considering the discontent with the Forest board that's been evident under the last several managers, I wonder who would want to replace him if he did go. Under Billy Davies, Forest were a solid, cohesive unit that just lacked the extra edge that some decent squad investment might have brought, and getting rid of him seems to have been another poor decision on the part of the board. Yes, Billy was temperamental and abrasive, but at least he got significantly more out of his players than McClaren has so far. Their options seem to be either to stick with McClaren and risk falling even further into the relegation scrap or to get rid of him and hope that any half-decent manager would be prepared to deal with all the internal nonsense that has helped hold the club back for the last decade.
  11. It'll be 1600 Microsoft Points and whatever the rough equivalent on PSN happens to be. If you're a Playstation Plus subscriber, though, you can get it for half the price, with a similar deal in place for Code Veronica.
  12. Don't worry, you can marry a new wife in the game. You can even have a same-sex marriage in the game if you want to try something new.
  13. You mean The Last Guardian? Things certainly seem to have been quiet in that area considering that it's been in development for more than five years now.
  14. Grand Magus, Conan, Cerebral Bore, A Forest of Stars, Humanfly, Talons and Illuminatus complete the line-up. For £29 this doesn't look bad at all. I'd be all over this if there weren't so many other gigs and events going on in November.
  15. Most of my favourite sitcoms are the older ones, such as Dad's Army, Fawlty Towers, Only Fools and Horses and Blackadder. I also really enjoyed a few 90s sitcoms, particularly Red Dwarf and Men Behaving Badly. Since the turn of the century, there haven't really been as many comedies that have grabbed my attention, but I did quite like the early series of My Hero, thanks in no small part to Ardal O'Hanlon.
  16. It's supposedly a spiritual sequel, so there shouldn't be any worries about having to understand a backstory if you haven't played Demon's Souls. From what I've heard, Dark Souls might be even harder than Demon's Souls, although that could just be hot air from the developers.
  17. There's the 2008 cell shaded game.. but I think he's referring to The Forgotten Sands. I was actually referring to the 2008 game, so thanks for the reply.
  18. Is the Prince of Persia reboot any good? I've heard very mixed reviews about it, but I'm considering giving it a go, if only because it's so cheap at the moment.
  19. Although I have no doubt that the impending Mario, Zelda, Mario Kart and Smash Bros. titles will be valuable sales boosters for the 3DS, I think it will ultimately be down to a few off-the-radar games carrying an element of mass market appeal that would really make it catch on. Super Smash Bros. Melee, Wind Waker, Super Mario Sunshine, Mario Kart: Double Dash and the first two Metroid Prime games all sold well on the Gamecube, but they weren't enough to prevent the console trailing behind the Playstation 2 and Xbox in terms of unit sales. The Wii and the DS, whilst being helped by the name power of its established franchises, both realised the difference between moderate success and huge profitability thanks to the releases of new IPs that drew in consumers who might not otherwise have entertained the idea of video gaming as a pastime, such as Wii Sports, Wii Fit and Just Dance on the Wii, along with Brain Training and Nintendogs on the DS. The basic gist of what I'm trying to say is that I don't think it will be the ports or the new versions of established franchises that will prove pivotal, but that it will be up to a few little titles that capture the public mood to really give the 3DS some momentum.
  20. Looks like a fairly straightforward group for England. In other words, it's just the sort of group in which they're most likely to mess up.
  21. Norway seem a lot higher than I thought they would be.
  22. There are some excellent little games in there, all of which can be activated through Steam. As with the previous bundles, the charitable cause makes it even better.
  23. I'm eyeing up the Leeds date, but I'm not optimistic about the ticket prices.
  24. How did the X-Japan show go? I quite like some of their material but I've only ever seen footage of them in front of Asian audiences.
