  1. In the past, Telltale have made the first episode of some of their games available for free, but it doesn't look as though they're doing that this time. I think I'll be holding off on this one for a while as I find their games to be rather hit-and-miss.
  2. They were the runners-up in last year's Under-21 European Championships, but I don't really know a lot about most of their players besides Xherdan Shaqiri.
  3. It looks as though I'm now the proud owner of tickets to New Zealand vs Belarus at Coventry. Should be fun, I suppose.
  4. Yeah, you're right. Allen actually won the World Open, which also took place in China this year.
  5. He was also ranting on Twitter earlier in the year about how much he hated being in China during the China Open (which he ended up winning).
  6. I'd highly recommend Harry Plinkett's film reviews. There aren't all that many of them and they're rather long, but they strike a great balance between comedy and genuinely insightful analysis. If you've got a couple of hours to kill, I'd recommend taking a look at his Star Wars Prequel reviews.
  7. EA games are now available at GAME, meaning that this thread has (sort of) gone full-circle.
  8. Not unless a developer happens to reveal an upcoming discount on their Twitter/official site/whatever else. The vast majority of the time, it's just a case of "wait and see". Generally, though, Sod's Law dictates that a game will go on sale just after you pay full price for it.
  9. Somewhat baffling. Does this mean everyone should start hating Rotherham now?

    South Park

I actually really liked the last episode, and the general reaction on another forum I visit seems to have been positive too. I can certainly see why some people might not have liked it, but, for me, it was a classic South Park mish-mash of current affairs, religious parody and downright silliness.
  11. I'm almost certain that's a US-only deal, sadly. It's been in effect for a few weeks now.
  12. Well, Refused were going to play at Sonisphere, but have now been picked up by Download.
  13. 13 new bands: Refused Kids In Glass Houses Lower Than Atlantis Four Year Strong Gallows Don Broco Porter Robinson T. Mills Fearless Vampire Killers Kobra and the Lotus Edguy Rival Sons Black Spiders A few surprisingly big names in there considering the stage the announcement schedule is at now, along with a few not so high-profile additions. T. Mills is really dividing opinion over on the official Download forum, give that he's this year's 'alternative' rap act.

    WWE '12

Well, that's totally fair, I'd say. I was probably a little drawn in by most of the negative comments I'd seen on some other gaming sites, which, coming to think about it, is more or less all you see in the comments sections of such sites at the best of times.

    WWE '12

Yeah, but I generally get the feeling that most people who were going to buy the game would have bought it already. I know that's not universally the case, but I can't see this new version appealing to a huge new audience unless it's released at a budget price, which most 'expanded' versions of games aren't.
  16. If I go, I'll probably get a day ticket for Saturday.

    WWE '12

WWE 12: Wrestlemania Edition has been announced for a May launch. It's just the original WWE 12 game with all the downloadable wrestlers, which seems rather pointless to anyone but those who wanted the DLC but weren't prepared to buy the actual game, if such people exist.

    Sonisphere UK 2012

It's looking very likely now. The BBC has reported on the rumours, quoting a statement of cancellation from the official Queen website.

    Sonisphere UK 2012

Shocking if it's true, but I can't help but feel the organisers shot themselves in the foot by waiting so long to make the first band announcement. Download made its first announcement around three months beforehand, and that's now apparently sold a record number of tickets by this stage of the sales process. Still, Thrash Hits have been known to drop a few clangers before, such as their insistence that Tool were going to headline Download last year, but this is a much larger kettle of fish.
  20. I worked part-time at one of the unlucky GAME shops to get the chop (we actually closed last month, before this week's huge wave of closures) and I can vouch for anyone saying that there are plenty of customers who build up huge amounts of store credit without being avid followers of the gaming industry itself. We had several loyal customers who came in every week to purchase games on a whim, usually after quickly glancing at the blurb on the back of the box, but who didn't even have Internet access at home, let alone follow the ongoing economic company struggles on a daily basis. Most of these people would save their credit for Christmas and birthday presents for their friends and relatives, which is why they never used to spend it. To say that they were gutted would be an understatement, but they generally ended up being the first to wish us well in the future, unlike some of the clowns trying to barter for extra discount because they knew the shop was closing.
  21. Firewind and Europe make this announcement for me! Me too. I've also heard almost universally bad things about Theory of a Deadman's performances on the recent Alter Bridge/Black Stone Cherry tour, so it might be wise to avoid them.
  22. 12 more bands are set to be announced on Wednesday.

    South Park

I quite liked this episode. As everyone else has said, it wasn't an absolute classic, but it certainly had a touch of the characteristic South Park silliness that I love so much. As a season premiere, it might not have been outstanding, but I'd say that the first episodes of the last few series haven't exactly been brilliant either. I think the last premiere I really, really liked was back in Season 11, and I've found the ones that have followed to be some of the weakest episodes of their respective runs.
  24. I don't think SI ever implements injury updates into the patches, although I'm not sure where I first read that.
