  1. HBO certainly seems set for plenty of prizes.
  2. Forest are apparently close to signing Willian.
  3. Even in-game Sting looks a little embarrassed.
  4. Tomba (known as Tombi in the PAL regions) and the Gex trilogy are getting remasters. Gex will be coming to PC, Switch, Playstation and Xbox, while Tombi is coming to all aforemention platforms except Xbox.
  5. There hasn't been any strong evidence that a takeover of Square Enix is forthcoming. The trial revealed that Microsoft had at least pondered buying almost every major publisher around before settling on Activision, but there were never any major moves towards Square. Square sold off a few of its biggest western properties, including Tomb Raider and Thief, last year, so that it could make more investments in the blockchain racket. If that works out badly, there's always a chance that it could be open to offers. Whether that would be a console manufacturer or someone else would remain to be seen.
  6. Assuming you're using the same Switch, it should work on both profiles.
  7. It was an ID@Xbox show, which highlights smaller games. Here is a list of everything that was announced. I agree with this. The FTC focused almost entirely on how the acquisition would negatively affect Sony, rather than the consumer. There was never any doubt that Sony would be just fine, but growing monopolies never benefit anyone other than the people at the very top.
  8. They both spent the trial acting as though their exclusivity practices were anything other than ways of removing content from other systems. Final Fantasy XVI and Final Fantasy VII Remake would be on Xbox consoles if Sony hadn't paid Square Enix not to do so, while Starfield might well have been a timed PS5 exclusive, just like Deathloop and Ghostwire Tokyo, if Microsoft hadn't bought Bethesda. Internal emails at both Microsoft and Sony also revealed that they had plans at some point to put the other out of business, so the notion that either of them act out of anything other that self-interest is absurd.
  9. The FTC's bid to block the Microsoft purchase of Activision has been denied, effectively leaving the acquisition free to go through everywhere except the UK. I can't see the UK risking having no Call of Duty, so you'd expect Microsoft's appeal to be successful there. This whole ordeal has been a mess involving two big console manufacturers unconvincingly pretending they're acting in good faith. As usual, whoever wins, most of us lose.

    FIFA 23

EA may have lost the FIFA licence, but I assume they've now partnered with Village of the Damned.
  11. Well, the whitewash has been avoided.
  12. I had a save in FM 2008 that saw Juventus win five Champions League titles in seven years under Jim Magilton.
  13. UFC 5 has been announced, with more details coming in September.
  14. Hearing him scream as he fell was very worrying. For a moment, I thought he'd done serious damage to his artificial hip, which would surely have meant an end to his career. I suppose we'll see how he gets on later today, but at least he was able to walk off court by himself.
  15. I'm quite sure they only take the money from your balance a week or so before the game releases.
  16. Ruud really doesn't like grass courts, but it's still a massive win for Broady. It's the second year in a row he's reached the third round, but, crucially, he will get ranking points this time round. We sometimes see British players get impressive wins at Wimbledon, but then they seem to do nothing of note for the rest of the season. It's a bit of concern because some of them probably have the ability to work their way up the rankings a little bit.
  17. They were a promotion-chasing League One club only a few years ago. Recent events have shown that clubs smaller than the average Championship outfit are just a bad owner away from complete ruin, which means that fans can never be completely comfortable. I can't help but think that the future will see more clubs go out of business and the lower leagues eventually repurposed as playgrounds for Premier League reserve sides.
  18. England are in the final. They still haven't conceded a goal.
  19. A few more details were revealed in a livestream today. Driver and staff development is a little different this time in that you select a general area of focus for their training. You no longer pick individual attributes to spend points on, so stat changes are organic. Mechanical failures are part of the game, although no footage was shown of them occurring. This is based on a durability system that affects all parts you manufacture, and is dependent on your facilities, staff quality and part development focus. Work has been put into ensuring that the field is split more realistically during races. In last year's game, you would often see DRS trains all over the circuit, with cars swapping places in every DRS zone. Apparently, that should be less common this time. You can now swap teams, but only when a post-launch update in September comes out. Like in Football Manager, you can't just join any team you like mid-save, instead only receiving job offers based on your previous performances. This means that you won't be able to join Mercedes after getting sacked by Haas, for example.
  20. Gauff is out in the first round. Facing Kenin was a nasty draw, though.
  21. It's not even as if this is some sort of passion project from a small team of hobbyist developers. It's a game funded by a company owned by a billionaire, published by THQ Nordic and developed by a studio with decades of experience in making wrestling games. There's no reason why the consumer should feel obliged to help them create a fully working product.
  22. Wimbledon starts tomorrow. Djokovic could equal both Federer's record of eight singles titles and the record of five consecutive men's titles, jointly held by Borg and Federer. In the women's singles, Swiatek is probably the one to beat, although Sabalenka and Rybakina are big contenders too. This year marks several anniversaries too. It's been ten years since Murray won his first title, twenty since Federer won his first title and thirty since Sampras won his first title.
