  1. Does anyone read the comics? I bought a bunch of 'Star Wars: Empire: comics yesterday as well as a 'Star Wars: Tales'. Also, I bought that Dark Empire I book that stoky linked me to, but it turned out to be the graphic novel adaptation! Not complaining mind you, but now it means I have to find the other two for a reasonable price :(

  2. Well, again I was bored during an England friendly. No surprise there. We won 3-2 and all, but my god if I ever have to sit through another England game on BBC with Graeme Le Saux talking for 90 minutes in his fucking monotone voice I'm going to kill someone, preferably him.

  3. Milan seal Jankulovski deal

Milan have sealed the signing of Marek Jankulovski from Udinese.

Despite sealing fourth spot, the Czech star has wasted little time in securing a move away from Friuli.

"Jankulovski? I confirm he went to Milan," president Giampaolo Pozzo said.

Milan confirmed the capture later on Monday, with a statement on their website revealing the Czech star had penned a deal which ties him to the club until the summer of 2009.

Jankulovski is Milan's second signing of the summer after they secured the signature of Swiss star John Vogel.

Pozzo is now to discuss the futures of some of his other star names including David Pizarro and Vincenzo Iaquinta.

"As for Iaquinta and Pizarro, we will talk again when there is real interest of a few clubs," he said.

    Crespo: Milan move close

Hernan Crespo says that his permanent move to Milan from Chelsea should be completed in the next few days.

The Argentinian scored twice for Milan in their UEFA Champions League final defeat to Liverpool on Wednesday, and is looking to join the Italians on a permanent basis.

Crespo has been on loan from Stamford Bridge all season and, despite Jose Mourinho still staying he thinks a lot of the player, he looks to be joining Milan permanently.

Crespo certainly wants to stay in Italy, and he now hopes a deal can be completed sooner rather than later.

"I hope that in days to come my transfer to Milan from Chelsea is finally resolved," said Crespo.

Although his own personal performance in Istanbul was good, Crespo admits he is totally distraught after being turned over by Liverpool.

"But I am destroyed in all senses by our defeat against Liverpool," added Crespo.

"In the first half we were so superior that I believe 3-0 was not enough. We deserved more goals.

"But in the second half we relaxed and paid for that. Liverpool did not win the final so much as Milan lost it."

    Both are from SkySports.com

I think Milan have a good player in Jankulovski. I've seen him a couple of times and he's impressed me. Doesn't say how much they've signed him for though, but he should be a good signing. Milan are getting better and better it seems.

Although Crespo isn't exactly confirmed, it is 99.99% assured it'll go through. He had a good season for Milan, but I'm surprised he never made an impact at Chelsea.

  4. Good for Edu, I think he'll flourish over there.

Back onto the Pires issue, I can understand the clubs policy of only offering players over 30 a one-year extension/contract, but at the same time you can understand the players frustration over it. I reckon he'll sign a new deal, and if not I think he'll go to Benfica.

  5. Yeah, theres a kid who used to be in the year below at my school who plays for either Fulham reserves or U18s, can't remember which. Tom Moncur is his name and I shortlist him so I can keep track of him and see how he goes. In real life I think he's captain for England U16s or 17s and he used to be with Arsenal.

Wayne Routledge use to go to my school and was in the year above/below me. :D

  6. Obi-Wan didn't know where Yoda was until after his death, at least that's what I assume. Kenobi would have spoken with Yoda much like Qui-Gon would have with him.

Didn't the original script have a scene of Obi-Wan communing with Qui-Gon?

I'm pretty certain it did. I know that in the Star Wars magazine in listed the story of the film, but also included one extra part which was Qui-Gon communicating with Yoda. I'd guess it's just because Liam Neeson was unavailable for shooting or something.

  7. Started a game with Wolves the other day.

Ellington is fucking godly, best signing ever.

Pfft, he was crap for my Wolves team. I joined Wolves about 2 years in and they had already signed him and his goalscoring stats were pretty shite.

I just found out my cousin is on the game (as a regen), anyone else know anyone who's on the game at all?

  8. I'm not having a go at you, like you said it's the Arsenal thread. GOD got knocked for posting a tonne of rumours like this too though, although then again you don't do it too much. Doesn't bother me in that sort of way, it just annoys me of how terrible some of these rumours really are.

Talking of rumours though, anyone want to inform me more about what's happening with Pires? He staying or going?  :P

Well, to be hones, GOD was bashed for just posting the rumours and not giving any opinions on them. :P

On the Pires thing, it all depends on how he does this coming season I think. He'll have to compete even more with van Persie/Reyes (whoever Wenger decided can play on the left) so he might not get as many games. I reckon he'll still be one of the best attacking midfielder in the country next year.

  9. Just went downstairs in time to see my dad watching the Yoda Dook' fight in Episode Two. Dooku has the ugliest lightsabre. It's disgusting. I hate it.

I thought it was cool looking. It had the curly handle and stuff which made it look different to all the rest.

  10. I'm planning on seeing it the week it's released, but one thing that has made me 100 times more interested in seeing it is the way it was filmed. All green screen, and the fact the actors shot all their scenes seperatly and it was edited together afterwards just sounds really different, yet cool at the same time.

  11. Well no not a lie then, but shitty rumours. It doesn't matter if it is from SkySports, most of there stuff is still rumours. Like how Buffon is joining United or how Chelsea will get half the world or something, meh  :P

This is the Arsenal thread, so if I hear/see a rumour I'll generally post it. Yeah it's a quote from the News of the World, but it was on the Sky Sports website, so I thought there might be at least a little truth in the report.

    Oh well.

  12.

All this news stuff has become pathetic lately. So many people post it and nearly all of it is lies. Mainly this one too. Robinho will no way go to Arsenal. Well he might in years time, but him going there now wont happen, or so I think anyway.

He's not a player who would fit in English football at the age he's at. He needs to go to Spain, because it's much more fast paced and suits his style perfectly. He'll know that too, that's why Madrid want him badly.

If you can somehow get him then brilliant, because he's an amazing player who will be probably the best in the world within his time.

Where is there a lie in what I posted? It's from the Sky Sports website, and he's said Arsenal have been in contact with him/his people. It doesn't say anywhere that he's going to sign for us does it?

He probably will go to Real, but it would be nice to see him in England, but he's probably not physically strong enough to handle the pressure and added physical side the English game has over all the others.

  13. Robinho reveals Gunners talks

Brazilian wonderkid Robinho admits that Arsenal have been in contact with his representatives about a sensational move for the Santos man.

Robinho has long been touted as the next big star to emerge from the historically football rich grounds of Brazil, and both Real Madrid and Chelsea are believed to hold a strong interest.

The 21-year-old has broken in to the Brazilian national setup after consistently dazzling displays for Santos, and has been praised by Pele amongst others for his prodigious technique and ability.

Despite initially remaining cautious about interest from Arsene Wenger's side, Robinho has now conceded that he is in talks with The Gunners and would love to play alongside French star Thierry Henry.

"Arsenal have been in touch with my people in the last few days and they have made me aware of the offer," Robinho told the News of the World.

"I am very proud that they are looking at me because a club like Arsenal doesn't come in for you every day.

"It would be a dream for me to play alongside Thierry Henry, we will continue to talk."

Arsenal will reportedly launch a £14 million bid for his services, and if Robinho makes the move to Highbury he would join the likes of Robin van Persie and Jose Antonio Reyes in a strike-force blessed with fledgling talent.

However, after being strongly linked with a move to sign the talented youngster in the January transfer window, Real Madrid  remain at the head of the queue for his prized signature.

I don't think many people would have a real problem with us blowing all our transfer budget on him would they? :D

  14. Wil Wheaton (a.k.a Wesley Crusher on Star Trek) was the voice of one of the radio stations on GTA: San Andreas. It was the voice of Richard Burns on Talk Radio. Little bastard doesn't go away does he? :P

  15. I was on the Star Wars website a minute ago and came across this:

Palpatine had long been staving death away by using arcane Sith knowledge and cloning technology. Palpatine would grow clone duplicates of his bodies to act as receptacles for his evil life force should his body die. With this technique, Palpatine had escaped death time and again. He called for Skywalker to kneel before him and become his apprentice. Skywalker, realizing that the Emperor was almost invincible, knelt before him, and agreed to join the dark side.

Like a few others in recorded history, Luke believed he could defeat the dark side from within by learning its secrets. He had neglected one of Yoda's key teachings -- never underestimate the power of the dark side. Skywalker, consumed by the darkness, found himself unable to break away from its pall. Though he succeeded in covertly sabotaging a number of Palpatine's plans, he could not bring himself back to the light. With the help of his sister, however, Skywalker was able to turn against his master. Together, the Jedi twins were eventually able to defeat Palpatine once and for all.

Someone SOOOOOOO has to tell me what book that is dammit!!!

  16. In which case, Liverpool should go over Everton as they won the whole damn tournament, while Everton only qualified through their league.

ONLY the champions of every European country, Liverpool didn't win the league so in the Champions League I described, no they wouldn't be in it.

So you don't want Arsenal in it next year, then?

Obviously I would, but we didn't win the league so we shouldn't be in it. It should be and elite tournament in my opinion.

  17. Everton have to qualify anyway, so what will one extra match make a difference to? If they are that good, they'll beat the former champions and go through to the next round of qualifications.

If Everton are good enough, then they will do it.

But Everton should have to qualify against the teams that got into the qualifiers by finishing in Champions League spots in their LEAGUE, not against Liverpool. I've said Liverpool should be in it, but if I had to choose over who deserves to be in it the most out of Liverpool and Everton, it's Everton all the way

  18. I think if Liverpool don't get offered a spot by UEFA (which, to be honest, they should do as the champions should defend), then it's either this or play Everton for the spot. They should have a chance at defending the title, even if it means another team gets knocked out.

Besides, who'd have a better chance of winning the Champions League - Liverpool, Everton or TNS? Liverpool are the ones with the best opportunity to succeed.

No, Everton did better than Liverpool in the league so they should not have to "qualify to qualify" for the Champions League. While Liverpool have a better chance, that's just wrong.

The TNS thing should happen, if anything does.

  19. Sifo-Dyas. :P

It's a little confusing, as I can't find anything that gives a 'concrete' explaination for this, but here's what it says:

The largest and best-known example of their clone armies is the one they crafted specifically for the Republic. Fulfilling an order apparently commissioned by Jedi Master Sifo-Dyas, the Kaminoans used a bounty hunter named Jango Fett as the template for their human army. The end result was a military force of alarming skill, speed and efficiency.

Had the Jedi investigated more closely, they may have discovered they were making a terrible mistake. The army, originally ordered by Master Sifo-Dyas a decade before, had been secretly co-opted by Darth Sidious to serve his long-term plans.

Shortly after the Battle of Naboo, Dooku made contact with Darth Sidious and agreed to become his new Sith apprentice, Darth Tyranus. As a sign of his new loyalty, Dooku killed his colleague Master Sifo-Dyas, and ensured Sifo-Dyas' secret clone army would be used to further the aims of the Sith.

Count Dooku arranged for the famous bounty-hunter Jango Fett to serve as the genetic template for the Kaminoan cloners.

Now, my reading of it says Sifo-Dyas wanted the clone army for the republic, and was somehow manipulated into getting them created by Sidious/Palpatine, and then he was killed by Dooku allowing the clone army to fall right into the hands of the Sith.

    It's far to confusing...
