  1. Interesting question here I think; if you could choose only one thing to happen out of the following two, which would you choose? Arsenal to win the Champions League or England to win the World Cup?

For me there's no question about it, Arsenal all the way. Interested to know what other people think. I'm guessing the majority of my fellow Gooner's will say Arsenal, but ya know, just interested.

  2. I'll agree, but Star Trek didn't have to do that much since as far as I've seen, all the creatures were easily done as people in face paint.

    Gorn

Have a look at that picture I linked to, and just so you know, that was late 60's, and it looks better than pretty much any creature I've seen in any pre-Ecclestone Doctor Who.

  3. Only because the aura of the "olden days of dr. who" are looked back at with Rose tinted glasses. It's like when I watch any sort of puppeted monster from back then, it looks really shit in comparison to todays actual CGI'd monsters.

But like I said, compared with other sci-fi shows of the same era (original Star Trek) it still looks really, really crap.

  4. I don't, because I can't get past how shitty it looks. I know it shouldn't matter, but that's all I can focus on.

It's the same for me. It's not even then "shitty but classic looking" that some shows have, the old Doctor Who episodes just look absoultely atrocious to me, just awful. I don't know why, but I swear, other TV shows from the same time frame, yeah they look old, but the still look good. The original Star Trek for example, take the very worst looking episode, hell take the original pilot The Cage, and it looks better than every single pre-Ecclestone Doctor Who episode I've seen.

  5. Is Chimbonda right back ? If he is im not that into him id prefer Leighton Baines as Lee Y Pyo hasnt got enough defensively. Ifil/Marney should be our first choice right back

Lee is our left back, not our right back.

Stephen Kelly is our best right back behind Stalteri at the moment, not Ifil or Marney. I can't see Kelly being a good starter for a whole season though. He's a decent back-up but I think we need a stronger right back.

Im saying if he is right back id prefer not to get him and buy Baines who is a great left back, much better than Lee

Was it rvdwannabe who said that Wigan's back-line were underrated? They were noted as being the key to Wigan's success by many people throughout the season. I wouldn't say they were underrated at all, they got plenty of recognition and praise.

They got occasional praise, but it wasn't as if you were hearing often about how good Henchoz and De Zeuuw had played, their attack got a lot of the praise for their performances usually. It is not as if when people chatted about the best players in the season you saw anyone other than Chimbonda from the backline, and thats why I say under-rated, cos they are relative to some of the bigger names.

All you ever heard about the Wigan backline was usually how slow it is, even though that doesn't affect the fact that they read the game better than most defenders do.

Well, Arjan De Zeauw (sp?) always got a lot of praise whenever there was a Wigan match on TV. The commentators would always talk about how he's probably been their best signing and how badly they missed him this year when he was injured. But yeah, that was all that I ever heard. Never heard anything said about Henchoz...which is good because I hate the prick. Costing us two damn goals the bastard.

  6. Well, no offence to anyone, but Stargate, and all that Star Trek bollax doesn't appeal to me either.

    :S

Stargate, Stargate Atlantis and Battlestar Galactica have NOTHING in common with Star Trek. The closest Galactica comes to it is the fact it's in space and set on a space ship, but nothing more at all. In fact, you could say it's sort of the polar opposite of it.

  7. Way to piss off Gallas even more, I hope he leaves.

Apparently he's offered to buy-out his own contract if they don't let him go (which would be about £5m or so), which is some sign of desperation. At least there's one player in the Chelsea team who isn't there for money :D

  8. Ballack completes Blues move

Michael Ballack has signed his three-year contract at Chelsea and is being unveiled by the Premiership champions.

As expected, the Germany captain has sealed a lucrative Bosman switch to Stamford Bridge after deciding against renewing his contract with Bayern Munich.

Ballack helped Bayern to another Double this season but was jeered by sections of the club's support during his farewell performance.

The East German will add a touch of class to an already powerful Blues squad and is likely to be a major force in The Premiership.

After previously being courted by Manchester United and Real Madrid, the 29-year-old decided to opt for a move to the English capital.

Ballack will wear the number 13 shirt next season that he favours, but the jersey is currently held by unsettled defender William Gallas, whose future in West London is in doubt with Milan keen to take the Frenchman to Italy.

Apparently he's going to be on £130,000 a week, which is ridiculous because I don't see where he's going to fit into your midfield as a regular starter. Lampard and Makelele are the two central players, and that's the way it should stay. Could be interesting though.

  9. Bones and Battlestar Galactica. Two of the best TV shows around, if I miss an episode I truly am fucking pissed off. In regards to BG, it's just really intelligent, really thought through, and Bones has David Boreanez, you can't ask for anything better :D

  10. I preferred the old cheap looking Cybermen, but these will have to do.

Really good episode, except Tennants spazzy face when he see's the Cybermen marching towards them all.

My god...they look something a 7-year old would make...in the 60's! They looked atrocious. Pretty much all of them. They showed them all on the Confidential (or whatever it's called) and the new ones are by far the best looking (and only good ones).

Looked like Dennis Taylor and sounded like Michael Caine...

    The greatest combination ever...

  11. No Command & Conquer and/or StarCraft makes me sigh. Those two games were awesome, and basically created the strategy genre (or whatever the genre is called). How on earth they aren't on the list...just makes no sense.

Starcraft? Not really. It was Warcraft/Warcraft II that was Blizzard's first big RTS game, not Starcraft.

    I did say "or" <_<

Besides, maybe Warcraft was the first, but I think it's pretty fair to say StarCraft perfected it.

  12. I dont even think it was the best of THIS series. Still was a good show though, don't get me wrong. Trigger was great, the Cybermen were badass....though someone should tell the guy who plays Mickey he can't do a tough-guy. He and the Biker Grove guy should never be allowed to play tough guys again.

Oh, the guy who was Triggers assistant was good too.....

He also directed the episode. At least I think it was him. Was watching the show after Doctor Who on BBC3 and I was half-asleep, so I have an excuse.

But yeah, this episode was really good. Don't particularly like judging two-parter episodes after just the first one, so I'll give proper opinions next week, but it was really good.

  13. They wont get relegated.

Don't have much of a view on this. If something wrong is going down then something obviously needs to be done, although it wasn't exactly long back that they were basically claiming the same stuff with Milan sometime last year. Shouldn't let this over shadow the Serie A title win that's about to arrive.

Well it should over shadow it if you fixed half the games to win the thnig don't ya think?

  14. Surprising cup winners? Well my Walsall team for a start! When in the Championship, I won the Carling Cup, beating Chelsea 4-1 over two legs in the semi's and also beat Portsmouth in the run-up to the final, and I finally won it against Charlton 0-0, but 5-4 on penalties. This is only after being in the Championship for a year prior to this after coming up from League Two finishing 2nd. Now my team are 6th in the Premiership after having beaten Man Utd 3-1 at the Bescott.

  15. Think JP will still support them if they get relegated to Serie C?

Nah, he'll jump ship to AC Milan or whoever take over Juventus' mantle as the best team.

I heard that if all goes badly and it's proven they're fixing matches and the like, they will be relegated to the lowest league in Italy, which is just gonna be hilarious. I utterly dispise Juventus (and it has nothing to do with Vieira), just something about the club pisses me off. The fans are sick bastards as well. I really hope they go bye-bye.

  16. Anything Andersson makes is awesome, so I'll generally swap between his.

Any chance of a link to some of his stuff?

There used to be loads over at sortitoutsi but I can't seem to see any over the anymore. I'll upload some a bit later, I've got them saved somewhere.

They lost all their files when the site died.

  17. Well after winning the Carlig Cup and the Championship in the same season, I finally achieved promotion to the Premiership, and was given about £8m to spend on players. Well, that went quickly as I brought in transfer listed Robin van Persie for £4.9 and Anton Ferdinand from relegated West Ham for £3.1m, as well as Thomas Sorensen for free from Aston Villa, and other than that, my team really didn't seem to need massive improvements. Nontheless, I brought in Steven Davis from Villa, Benji DeCeulaer from Feyenoord and Mounir El Hamdaoui from Spurs, all on frees. Then my board gave me a bit more dosh to spend, so I spend it on bringing in Zesh Rehman from Portsmouth for about £2m, and the guy has got brilliant stats at the moment.

So right now, this is how my team looks:

    GK: Thomas Sorensen/Federico Bellemo

    RB: Francois Clerc/Zesh Rehman

    LB: Boldizsar Bodor

    CB: Anton Ferdinand

    CB: James McEveley/Ryan Garry

    RM: Steven Reid/Kennedy Bakircioglu

    LM: Robin van Persie

    CM: Petit

    CM: Laurent Macquet

ST: Corrado Colombo (goal machine in the Championship)

ST: Alexis Sanchez (signed for free from some Columbian club when he was 17, and has been attracting interest from Barcelona, AC and others)

Other than those guys, I have a number of other squad players that include James Beattie, Christian Vieri, Mikael Dahlberg (on loan, good stats, should score some), Salvatore Foti (again, on loan, good stats, should score some goals) Johnannes Djourou, Marc Kalenga, Mathieu Flamini, Sherman Andres Cardenas (again, another free from South America with awesome stats who's wanted by big, big clubs) and Matt Jansen. And a really random signing of Chris Templeman, who I signed when I was in League 1 I think, and never played, but when I got the Championship he started banging in goals before getting injured for 6 months, which shot his stats to hell, so I thought I'd have to sell him, but his stats have improved, and hopefully he'll be back in the squad this year.

Started the season off with a 2-1 win against Man Utd at the Bescott Stadium and a 3-0 loss to Tottenham at White Hart Lane. Could be an interesting season.

  18. If you notice, 5pm is just 2 hours after 3pm. I said "four or more hours", which by then most of our team would have been fitter according to our team doctors. The two hours wouldn't have made a difference.

So no recovery at all would take place within that extra two hours, but would in the two afters after that?

Exactly. If it's food poisoning, how can an extra four hours in total help? You can barely eat with food poisoning, it's not just going to miraculously clear up in that time.
